About this property

... off a quiet farm lane, ½ mile from Battisborough Cross (1½ from nearest beach) towards Newton Ferrers/Noss Mayo, surrounded by rolling farmland with Dartmoor in the distance, an impressive ‘upside down’ house, one of four (one attached) cleverly designed to retain original features from their former function as huge stone-built barns to Alston Manor Farm (original farmhouse and a little mixed farming remains) and thoughtfully laid out for peace and privacy. At the front, a gravelled drive (shared with one other house) to the parking area with gate off to your own enclosed, lawned garden and path to wide, stone terrace (tables/chairs, barbecue); at the rear, a peaceful shared, part lawned, part gravelled courtyard.

From the terrace, 4 stone steps up to glazed doors into superb, spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen with lofty ceilings, exposed scissor-beams and polished oak floors; at one end, smart oak/granite fitted kitchen area (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, 5-ring gas hob/electric double oven) and dining table; at the other, two big leather corner sofas (large floor cushion for additional seating), TV/DVD; door to wardrobe area, off which smart tiled bathroom (suite, shower over bath) and 2 steps down to a large double bedroom (5’ bed, TV/DVD) with door to front terrace.

From living area, oak stairs (top stairgate) down to tiled hall with door to shared courtyard and three more bedrooms, all carpeted with modern furnishings and some exposed beams – a roomy double (5’ bed, TV) with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath), and, along the hall, a twin (TV/DVD) and one with four singles (two truckle beds can be used in the downstairs double bedroom), TV/video and French windows to courtyard. Large shower-room (wet-room suite).

Damages Deposit £200. Best for maximum of 8 adults, 2 children. Stylish, smart, spacious. A great spot for exploring south Devon’s beautiful coastline, beaches and pretty villages.

"We had a fabulous week at Swallowsmeet. It was ideal for three families (a couple, a couple with baby and 2 year-old and another couple with two young girls, giving each family their own bathroom) and the main room was very large and meant everyone had plenty of space to lounge/play/cook/eat without getting on top of eachother. The kitchen is very well appointed (we all love to cook) and general decor and fittings to a high standard. Warm, light, and airy atmosphere, but also peaceful and with a large lawn area for children to play. The area is great; lots of beautiful walks on the SW Coastal path and a couple of nice beaches. The Riverford Farm Shop and cafe at Yealmpton was a real bonus. Another great HH find!"
