We recently visited Gara Rock, and stayed in apartment No.2...It was absolutely beautiful. It had everything you could possibly need for a self-catering break (apart from a hairdryer!!) and furnished perfectly. The view is amazing, and it really is a beautiful part of the world. The pool, sauna, steam room & Jacuzzi were great and the café served amazing chocolate brownies and flapjacks...but unfortunately we were unable to sample any of the other food because of the limiting opening hours...I felt this was the only let down of our trip.... Most people visiting these apartments are out and about walking or sight-seeing during the day, so with food not starting until 12 we were already away and by time we came back to the apartment it was after 5 every evening, and last orders for food was at 4.30! Giving the fact there was nothing to do in the evening at Gara Rock, to come back any earlier made for a long evening so be prepared to 'cook-in' every night...however perhaps in the summer the hours are extended? If you are visiting, definitely stop at Tesco/Morrisons in Kingsbridge on your way to get stocked up! Bear in mind that this is a very remote area, and the roads around are extremely narrow so navigating at night time is not ideal!! However if you keep busy during the day, a nice relaxing evening after a swim in the pool is nice. We visited lots of different towns and villages during our stay, including Salcombe via water-taxi, Darmouth, Beesands, but our favourite was Hope Cove...will definitlely return there for a stay. There was also a quirky little pub in East Prawle, The Pig's Nose Inn...we visited a few times, it is great to look at, serves decent food and the staff were very friendly but its charm was the great atmosphere created by a mix of locals and holiday makers alike...don't miss a visit!! Overall a fab holiday!!!
