Penveron is a detached, self-catering holiday cottage with stunning views over the Dart Estuary. Arguably one of the most beautiful places in the UK.
Penveron is a detached, self catering holiday cottage with stunning views over the Dart Estuary. The accommodation has been refurbished to a very high standard and there is a large garden to the rear of the property. It is close to the centre of the village, with its excellent shop and two pubs. Dittisham is one of the prettiest and most unspoilt villages within the South Hams.
The village boasts a riverside tearoom, a well stocked village store and the opportunity to hire a variety of boats to explore the upper reaches of River Dart. For the young - and the young at heart, Dittisham is the perfect place for 'crabbing' - lines and bait are available at the tearooms!

We did love this bright house and it's overlooking position. The roof terrace with it's sunbed was the bonus. The property was very clean and tidy. The kitchen and all utilities were fitted perfectly, nothing was missing. We just wanted to stay any longer and hence can highly recommend this outstanding property.

Property is very comfortable and has lovely views . Pity there is no car parking space. The housekeeper Lesley was very helpful and efficient.

The house is quiet and spacious, and is in a beautiful setting with lovely views overlooking Dittisham and the Dart Estuary. We were warned about the steps up to the house and need to park in the pay and display car park nearby, but it is also worth noting that the narrow, twisty single track road with steep gradients that leads from the A3122 to the village is not for the faint hearted! We thought the bed mattresses and pillows were very poor quality, not what we would expect for the premium price charged by Rural Retreats. The mattress in the ground floor bedroom was bruisingly hard and looked old, while that in the first floor double bedroom was very lumpy, uneven and uncomfortable. In the single bedroom the bed was so small and enclosed that it was only really suitable for a very short person like a small child. The fittings in the 2 bathrooms, particularly the wash basins and taps, seemed to prioritise fancy designs over practical usefulness. The lighting in the lounge was very dim making it impossible to read in there once it was dark. Having stayed in numerous different Rural Retreat properties over the years, we often find ourselves wishing that there could be as much investment in the quality of basic comforts like beds and good lighting as there seems to be in kitchen gadgets, designer bathrooms etc.
