Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

Loved the outdoor balcony, the lounge and the dining area. It was generally very well laid out and equipped. As others have said, it would be nice to take a stand-up shower, and there were bits of the kitchen, in particular that could have been a bit cleaner. Clearly the steps are a problem for anyone with mobility problems, but I can't see how this can be overcome. Another set of keys would be helpful, so that we could go out and come back separately. Would also be good to know what is and isn't provided of the basics - for example we bought toilet rolls and they were there, but didn't bring dishwasher liquid, which wasn't there. Providing coffee and tea is a nice touch. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend it to others for both position and comfort.

The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. It is within walking distance of the town and other areas of interest. Just leave the car in the car park and take the train, bus and ferry. Lots of interesting shops and places to eat and drink.

Sadly on this occasion the cleanliness in the kitchen left something to be desired and we found a dirty top oven and a disgusting oven cooking tray covered in deep grease and which we complained about first thing on the Monday morning with supporting photos. The cutlery also did not look sparkling clean and needed rewashing. Looking to possibly book next year we were astounded at the out of this world exorbitant rental now being charged so we will not be returning.
