About this property

… a mile from Aveton Gifford, 300 yards down a tree-lined track off a lane, three very special places to stay within handsome former farm buildings: an airy converted barn (L248), a barn converted into a gallery (L191) overlooking meadows and a remarkable Grade II listed former music room (L249). A large, pretty, enclosed suntrap courtyard with fountain and flowers is shared with the friendly owners. Just outside the courtyard, a lawned walled garden (also enclosed) with camellias, fig and walnut trees, leading to another captivating garden with pond (unfenced) and 6 grassy acres with big wildlife pond (fenced), benches (terrific long views) and big trees to sit under, inviting you to rest, read or just enjoy the silence and let your mind wander (children should be supervised). L248 and L191 are heated by biomass boiler, using wood from local, sustainable woodland. Spring water. Arrival after 4pm. A peaceful, curative oasis, good for ‘taking it easy’.

The Barn is ‘upside down’ and converted with enormous flair. Upstairs, a huge, high, stylishly furnished open-plan living/dining/fitted kitchen (35' x 18') with beamed ceiling to the apex, wood floor (rugs), French windows (balustrade) overlooking the courtyard, original watercolours, woodburner, TV/DVD, MP3/iPod dock; stairs (stairgates) divide the living area from the dining/well-equipped kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, cooker with induction hob, larder fridge, coffee maker). Downstairs (tiled floors/rugs): hall; two bedrooms with doors to courtyard – a double (6' bed or twin) with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower), and a big L-shaped double (6' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite, power-shower). Utility area (washer-drier, freezer). Warm and welcoming all year.
