"We enjoyed a lovely family holiday. 3 generations - 8months to 73 years. The house has plenty of bedrooms, most with en-suite, a spacious lounge & well equipped kitchen. Plenty of hot water for us all. Lovely large dining room so we could all eat together in comfort. The house is well positioned for visiting many local places."

"A lovely big old house, full of character. Perfect for our family holiday with plenty of space and lots to do. We ranged in ages from 20 to 80 and had lots of fun with family quizzes in the lounge, card games in the breakfast room and pool tournaments in the bar. A well equipped house with a large dining room to seat 20 and a well equipped large kitchen if you choose to cook rather than try one of the many restaurants in town, which is a 5 minute walk downhill and a 10 minute walk back up!"

"S19191 is a wonderful, very well equipped house, with beautiful large bedrooms and 10 bathrooms to match. It was very easy to cook meals for 15 people with an amazing selection of pans and enough plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and cutlery to still have plenty even when the dishwasher was full. Ilfracombe is just a short stroll away and so family could pop into town at different times for the next cream tea or visit down to the harbour. It takes longer to get back as the walk is uphill, but we all felt fitter by the end of the week. The teenagers in the family spent most evenings in the bar room, playing pool or cards. The lounge was very comfortable and had plenty of settees and chairs. You can get to the coastal path, with amazing views, by walking up the path at the side of the house. We also had great days out surfing at Woolacombe Bay, fishing trips, pony trekking and playing pitch and putt. We had three generations of family and all really enjoyed our week."

"We all had a great time at S19191. A couple of the beds could do with new mattresses for better comfort. Everything we needed was available and we did not need to contact the owners during our stay. The house would benefit from a thorough spring clean as some of the original features needed some care. Difficult to do in the few hours of changeover. Discription and photos are accurate on the website a great base for a great holiday"

"There were a number of issues that arose. The first was the steep drive up to the house. This was covered in moss and difficult to negotiate without a 4X4. One of our cars got stuck and needed the RAC to get it out, whose driver commented adversely on the state of the drive. The owners pointed out that it had been very wet, but that does not mean they couldn't have tried clearing the moss to make access easy. There was also difficulty in manouevering cars in the car park. This can no way be described as adequate parking - we only had 4 cars and only just about managed, as some of our party couldn't come. I think the nature of the drive should have been more adequately described in the details of the propertyThe second point was s smell of gas in the kitchen. The owners arranged for a plumber to examine the cooker, who found no leak, but explained how it may have occurred. A note warning guests to watch out for this would have prevented our anxiety. The third major incident was a plaster fall from a ceiling. This could have caused injury if one or our party had been underneath. It appears that some rain had entered as there was a flat roof. The owners came the same day to clear up the mess, and remarked that tis was an unforseen event. However, maybe a more thorough inspection of the property prior to lettting the property might have identified a potential problem.Overall the cleanliness and equipment in the house were good, and despite the above frustrations we were satisfied with the house."

"The venue was great for our large family gathering and having plenty of space really worked. The rooms were quite nice though the bathrooms are in need of an update. Generally the property requires a deep clean and we needed to wash a lot of the equipment in the kitchen before we could use it. The pool table is barely fit for purpose either. The owners were very nice and were quick to respond in communication and to assist as necessary. We would stay again, but mainly because of the size of the property as it would fit our requirements. It does need a fair bit of TLC though."
