About this property

A one bedroom ground floor barn conversion, sleeps 2. Situated in 20 acres of beautiful grounds with fishing rights

Old Dairy is a beautiful period barn conversion that has been compassionately converted to provide a tasteful and unique holiday home. Old Dairy has retained many original features, has high quality bespoke furniture and a kitchen and bathroom that are in keeping with the style of the property.

Original beamed, vaulted ceilings with galleried features create a light, airy and spacious feeling whilst ‘wood burning’ stoves make it an appealing rural retreat for cosy winter breaks.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.

Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a kids’ play park and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.

Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with a number of historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.

Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.

Just a short drive away from Park Mill Farm Cottages, you can experience the range of luxurious facilities on offer at Highbullen Golf and Country Club including tennis courts, a pool, fitness suite, and a range of spa treatments if you fancy being pampered.

Fishing at Park Mill Farm

"This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time really does seem to stand still."Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.

There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott)  meandering through the grounds  and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch Carp,  Rudd, Chubb, Roach, Brown Trout and Tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon can be caught together with Coarse fish.

One of the big reasons behind our decision to use Blue Chip and this accommodation was that there was the possibility to stay for four nights like we wanted as we found the majority of cottage self catering lets wanted a minimum of seven nights. The owners had provided excellent details on how to get there which we were emailed by Blue chip before arrival. We were greeted with a tasty cream tea left by the owners which was a really lovely touch. The accommodation was spotless and really beautiful and you could tell the owners had gone to a lot of effort to restore the barn with original features still abundant. There are a couple of pubs and a couple of restaurants available to choose from but only one of the pubs seemed to be open during the week - The Red Lion - but the food there was very tasty, especially the pizzas. It took around an hour to drive to the different towns on the coast but if walking is your thing the grounds are beautifully kept and there are plenty of places to. We really enjoyed our stay and found the best things about the accommodation were the peacefulness, the comfy beds and the surrounding beauty.
