About this property

A magnificent barn conversion in a peaceful rural setting with rolling countryside viewsA magnificent barn conversion in a peaceful rural setting with rolling countryside views

Old Dairy is a beautiful period barn conversion that has been compassionately converted to provide a tasteful and unique holiday home. Old Dairy has retained many original features, has high quality bespoke furniture and a kitchen and bathroom that are in keeping with the style of the property.

Original beamed, vaulted ceilings with galleried features create a light, airy and spacious feeling whilst ‘wood burning’ stoves make it an appealing rural retreat for cosy winter breaks.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.

Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a kids’ play park and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.

Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with a number of historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.

Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.

Just a short drive away from Park Mill Farm Cottages, you can experience the range of luxurious facilities on offer at Highbullen Golf and Country Club including tennis courts, a pool, fitness suite, and a range of spa treatments if you fancy being pampered.

Fishing at Park Mill Farm

"This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time really does seem to stand still."Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.

There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott)  meandering through the grounds  and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch Carp,  Rudd, Chubb, Roach, Brown Trout and Tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon can be caught together with Coarse fish.

...during Aug/Sept 2016. We arrived to a lovely clean and well equipped place which was very quiet and peaceful. We had a lovely time there really just chilling out and visiting a few local places. On arrival we had been left a cream tea and milk, a very nice gesture. The bed was very comfortable and big!!! We would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. As it rained some of the time and we hadn't taken suitable footwear, we didn't get a chance to see the grounds although there was a lake for fishing and lots of grounds to see. Maybe next time!! ...ticked all the boxes for us, peaceful, relaxing and very well appointed. The owners, who live nearby, were very friendly and helpful. The access roads are negotiable with care but traffic is almost only the residents so it was not an issue for us. One unexpected pleasure was a wonderful dark night sky full of stars, no light pollution. Submitted by Bob on 19/10/2015

...as always the whole booking process was very smooth and efficient. Our stay was at Park Mill Farm at Chulmleigh in the Old Dairy. This was our third stay at Park MIll Farm and as always it totally exceeded our expectations. The barn was immaculately clean and full of character with everything you needed for your stay. The beautiful fields and woodlands surrounding the farm are breathtaking with lots of lovely walks and some fabulous fishing in the lake. A perfect place to stay to escape the stresses of everyday life. This is the most peaceful and tranquil place we have ever stayed in and is perfect for total relaxation. The owners Ray and Sue are extremely helpful, so warm and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. Would highly recommend staying here. Submitted by Jackie on 10/09/2015
