About this property

... 1½ miles from Bickleigh Bridge, Rashleighayes is a house of tremendous charm. Half a mile of private drive descends steeply, giving thrilling views of the house/farm/buildings below. The original 17th cent. house has been sympathetically extended; gravelled forecourt, sheltered, south-facing patio and enclosed lawned garden (rare and lovely clematis) at the back (barbecue), leading to safely walled heated outdoor swimming pool (38’ x 18’ x 6’6" to 3’ deep, available 1 May to 18 September). The 150 acre working farm is home to rare White Park cattle (less than 500 in the world). The owner (farmer and environmentalist) is pleased to show you around the farm which has a Devon Wildlife Trust Silver Award and won Highly Commended in the 'Britain's Most Beautiful Farm' awards.

Inside, the house is full of light, fun, interest, comfort, well-decorated; a home. Hall; big living room with open fireplace (logs included), rugs, interesting pictures, TV/DVD, two big windows (seats) and half-glazed door to garden. Next door, enormous, hub-of-house, delightful kitchen/dining room (28’ x 28') with big windows, dining table seating 16 plus kitchen table, oil-fired Aga, electric oven/four-burner halogen hob, larder fridge, iPod dock, door to patio (table/chairs, barbecue); two walk-in slate-shelved larders with dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, freezer. "Beautiful house in a great location. Close to pubs, supermarkets but tucked away in a quiet valley. The house was huge and we didn't see (or hear) the kids for hours on end. Good facilities (could have done with another dishwasher and smaller snooker cues for the kids) and the swimming pool was nice and warm. Slightly dodgy decor in the house - could have done without the cherubs in the main bedroom, and the slightly freaky stencils of horror-movie toys on the walls. But didn't spoil a wonderful week."

"The property was delightful and suited our family gathering with ages 3 to 70. It was fully equipped and cooking on the aga was an interesting experience. An added bonus was the working farm."

"I have found your website clear and helpful. I would also like to say that our first experience with Helpful Holidays at Christmas was first class. We stayed at Rashleighhayres Farm, Bickleigh. The house was the best we have ever stayed in, there were fourteen of us, from babies to grandparents, and we were all catered for. We would not hesitate to recommend Helpful Holidays to all our friends, and look forward to our next holiday with you."
