Orchard Cottage in Exeter, Devon, is a charming property that offers a comfortable and welcoming stay. Guests have praised the cosy beds, the peaceful location with countryside views, and the thoughtful touches from the host, such as homemade bread and cake. While some guests noted areas for improvement, particularly in maintenance and cleanliness, the overall experience is one of a delightful rural retreat ideal for exploring East Devon and enjoying a tranquil escape.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests have mentioned that Orchard Cottage was warm and welcoming upon arrival. However, some reviews pointed out the need for a deeper clean in certain areas, such as the bathroom, and a refresh of some amenities. The presence of dust and a musty smell in towels and bedding were noted, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness.

The cottage is appreciated for its quiet and secluded location, offering a perfect base for exploring Devon. Despite some development nearby, the rural charm seems largely intact, with guests enjoying the proximity to local beaches and attractions. The presence of sheep and countryside views adds to the appeal.

Many guests found the cottage to be very comfortable, with special mentions of the comfy beds and the warm welcome. The living area is described as spacious and the garden as a pleasant space, although some guests found the double bed short and the mattresses soft.

The facilities at Orchard Cottage are generally well-received, with a well-stocked kitchen and cosy living space. However, several reviews cite issues with the shower pressure and temperature control, and some appliances like the oven and heater needing attention. The need for updates in the property's information folder and some amenities was also mentioned.

The host's thoughtfulness is frequently commended, with guests warmly mentioning the homemade bread and cake provided upon arrival. While these gestures are highly appreciated and contribute to the welcoming atmosphere, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

It was a bit tricky to find in the dark, but the directions were good so we found it eventually. Everything had been thought of, it was cosy, welcoming, clean and comfortable.

From the warm, friendly welcome, the convenient location and the well furnished comfortable property to the amazing lemon drizzle cake and freshly baked bread that awaited us. We had a lovely relaxing week here - some days we explored east Devon but other days we just chilled in the cottage garden. Would certainly recommend.

The cottage is well supplied with everything for a comfortable holiday, lovely comfy beds, great sofas and farmhouse table. Good wifi signal too. The owner is very friendly and ready to give advice if needed . We were welcomed with milk in the fridge, homemade bread and delicious lemon drizzle cake which was a nice surprise. The cottage is well placed for easy access to everywhere in East Devon with a good road system. Lots of friendly places and pubs for eating out locally. Highly recommend this little oasis of calm, and we will certainly be returning.
