One mile away, the popular market town of Ottery St Mary, famed for its annual November 5th 'Tar Barrels' celebration, sits beside the River Otter - home to a newly populated resident beaver colony. Here you'll find interesting shops, cafes, and a large garden nursery. Charlston is within easy reach of the stunning Jurassic Coast and just a short drive to the cathedral city of Exeter, making it the perfect base for exploring the beautiful East Devon countryside. All on one level the apartment has a large, sunny, open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with glazed doors looking over your own pristine flower filled garden and the adjacent church. The large master double bedroom also enjoys views over the garden and is adjacent to the newly fitted, smart family bathroom. The smaller bunk room with en- suite shower room is ideal for youngsters or those who are young at heart.
Ottery St Mary is by the River Otter and is known for its literary connections to Coleridge, the poet. Ottery St. Mary is also known for its 'Tar Barrels'. Ottery has pubs and individual shops. A great walking area, with the banks of the River Otter or hill climbs offering views of Dartmoor. Nearby Escot Country Park is a wildlife attraction and the 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast is a short drive away, where Seaton, Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth and Sidmouth are found. An easy drive away is Exeter with shops, museums, a theatre and many restaurants.

We did some nice walks too and really enjoyed being in Wiggington. We had a very busy week as it turned out but the weather was kind the rain was mainly at night. The only problem we encountered was the Wi-Fi didnât let my husband attend a meeting on line one weekday evening but it worked mostly okay the rest of our week. We really enjoyed our week.

The property is clear and tidy, as well as being fully equipped. The perfect place to relax in. Annie and Terry are friendly but do not encroach on your holiday experience. Having used holiday lets for nearly two decades, Charlston would rated in our top ten.

It is attached to the owner's property. Has a nice lounge/kitchen area, main bedroom is lovely, second bedroom has bunkbeds, and a lovely garden. It is conveniently located and close to Sidmouth and other local places in south Devon. Our only slight negative with this property is that it is not possible to control the central heating from within the property; it can only be switched on by the owner. Hence if the weather is a little cool, or as in our case in September we had a very wet spell of rainy weather although the cottage was warm enough, we found it difficult to dry our towels. The owner was helpful in providing extra towels and drying frames but refused to switch on the central heating. We would suggest the owner fits an electrically heated towel rail in the bathroom, and an extractor fan.
