A quintessential Devon Cottage.

This is our most characterful rental cottage. An ancient cob and thatch property with medieval origins, tucked away down a lane on the edge of the pretty village of Kilmington. The Property is packed with many interesting features, including ancient former ships' timbers, many exposed beams, uneven floors, ancient doors and lime plaster walls. It is warm and cosy with a wood burner and sauna.

The property is set in a beautiful secluded woodland garden extending to two acres with landscaped ponds and a stream running through. The gardens have been open to the public in the past and are of great interest to tree lovers, with over 100 varieties of interesting and unusual trees and shrubs planted by the Owners who have, in many cases collected the seeds and propagated them.

For those interested in visiting other Famous Gardens, Burrow Farm Gardens, (www.burrowfarmgardens.co.uk) are just ten minutes' drive from Old Cider Lodge Also, all within twenty miles are:- Forde Abbey, (www.fordeabbey.co.uk) Bicton Park, (www.bictongardens.co.uk) and Pecorama, (www.pecorama.info) all provide delicious food and interests for children.

This Cottage is a short walk from Kilmington & Shute woods which have a number of Bridleways, Paths and also a Roman Road to explore. All perfect for dog walking as well as providing a bird's eye view of the Axe Valley estuary and the sea from the location of an ancient Armada Beacon situated at the top of the woods.

If walking is your special interest Old Cider Lodge is placed only four miles from the South West Coast path (www.southwestcoastpath.com) which threads its way through some dramatic scenery and geology along Devon's Jurassic Coast. The East Devon Way (www.eastdevonaonb.org.uk) this route can beaccessed from Colyton   (three miles) and takes you through stunning rural countryside.

Millers Farm Shop in the village is well stocked and has an interesting range of produce, there is also a Post Office, Church and 2 excellent Pubs. Axminster (Devon) is only two miles away and offers Tesco, Co-op, Family Butcher as well as Farmers' Markets and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's famous River Cottage Canteen.
