About this property

This lovely three-bedroom stone-built stable conversion was originally part of the stables and Tack Room. It overlooks the rear garden with views across the surrounding open countryside. Entry is under an arched porch way into the very comfortable sitting room, beautifully furnished to the highest of standards. The country-style kitchen has plenty of character and has been beautifully equipped to meet all your culinary needs, with the dining area making it a very sociable space. Each bedroom is tastefully appointed, one with an en-suite and one with an additional day bed, allowing flexibility for sleeping arrangements. To the rear, five steps lead up to a private lawned garden which has fine views over fields; a delightful spot in which to relax and soak up the sun. Note: This property adjoins Ref. 927574, together they sleep 14.

The small, rural village of Ashover is peacefully situated in the Amber Valley, just five miles from Matlock. The village affords a 9-hole golf course and several good pubs, including the Crispin Inn, renowned as one of the oldest pubs in the Peak District. The county town of Matlock, famous for its warm springs, offers a host of fine eating places, good shops and an interesting museum.

Ashover is a very pretty village. The property is furnished to a high standard with all the equipment you need for a comfortable stay. Contact with the owner was by phone and she was very pleasant.

Setting was beautiful and it was a good base to explore the area. However there were a few things which we feel need addressing. Directions were inaccurate and all of us struggled to find the entrance to the Tack Room. We selected the property as it was stated that it was a ten minute walk to the local pubs. This walk along the roads would have taken a lot longer and in places on the country lane there was no pavement or lighting. Maybe it takes that time a walk across the fields but this isn’t an option at night. A sensory light would be useful on the steps to the property as it was dark and slippery in the rain. The living room has no windows and was disappointingly dark. The small step to the kitchen is a hazard and one of our group had a nasty fall. We expect to find kitchen basics such as salt and pepper, oil, tea, coffee, foil, cling film- none of these were provided 9.30am check out we thought was a little early especially when we were expected to strip beds, empty bins and dishwasher. The guests in the other cottage were also unhappy about the check out time
