About this property

Located just a short stroll from the centre of Grasmere is this spacious and well-presented property, Daisy Cottage. Offering a great base for touring the Lake District, friends and family can come together to enjoy this charming abode, kitted out with all the essentials for a self-catered break. Enter into the kitchen to find a well-equipped selection of appliances and utensils, along with a dining table for six, making a great spot to enjoy a home-cooked meal or pulling open a map and planning the next day’s adventure. Enjoy your down time within the cosy sitting room, where two sofas and an armchair are positioned around the woodburning stove, while in the corner there is a TV with Now TV box for plenty of on-demand streaming. As the evening draws to a close, retire to the bedrooms upstairs, with delightful sleeping quarters across both floors. The second-floor plays host to a spacious mezzanine double bedroom with a sloped, beamed ceiling and traditional wooden flooring providing character to the room, plus a dressing table and a seating area with TV to offer a private spot away from the group. There is also the added benefit of an en-suite shower room and views towards the surrounding fells that can also be appreciated from this level. The other two bedrooms can be found on the first floor and include a double and a twin bedded, served by a large bathroom with choice of bath and shower over. Step outside and relish in the delightful garden, offering seating at a lower and higher level which is perfect for alfresco dining or simply enjoy a refreshing drink amidst the quiet surroundings. Walkers will be in awe of exploring the area with a number of a scenic walks from the door – the more adventurous will love to tackle the Great Rigg and Helm Crag whilst those looking for a gentler route can enjoy a walk around the beautiful waters of Grasmere. Dove Cottage can be found not far from the property and is a great choice for those wanting to learn about the everyday life of William Wordsworth. Grasmere itself is home to small selection of eateries and shops, including the famous Gingerbread Shop which has been around for generations, whilst a greater range of amenities can be found at the villages of Bowness and Ambleside, less than 10 miles from Daisy Cottage. With much to see and do, Daisy Cottage promises a holiday to remember for the whole family.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

Love the fact that you are able to park the car and have lots of walks from the cottage. The cottage is well equipped and very spacious. Would like to see a long handled brush for sweeping up in the utility room but apart from that the cottage provides everything needed for holiday stay. Love the pantry - ideal to store everything brought for weeks stay.

The location is great for walking into grassmere . The cottage had everything we needed .

Superb location just a short stroll from Grasmere village. The hottest week we have ever spent in the Lakes so our only comment is that a parasol for upper terrace table would have come in handy. The blocked drain issue we had was sorted extremely quickly even on a Sunday. Would highly recommend Daisy Cottage as well as Sykes/Heart of the Lakes
