This is perfect walking country for those wanting to explore the upper valleys of Middleton-in-Teesdale, incorporating the well-known Cauldron Snout and the High and Low Force waterfalls. Head north from the property and visit the magnificent Durham Cathedral, perched high above the meandering River Wear, or take the motorway south and within forty minutes, you are at the city of York for a wonderful day out. The property is maintained to a very high standard and it is one of the cleanest properties that we've stayed at during our long time using sykes. It has everything you'd need during a stay away and the milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were well appreciated on arrival after a long journey. We also found a few things to do in the area and shops are extremely close by making it an ideal location to stay at. Is it warm and cosey and the shower was lovely. Saying that, unfortunately we ended up leaving a day early from our holiday as the neighbours on both sides have very loud dogs that are outside almost all the time and are constantly barking (both at night and early hours of the morning) making sleep very difficult and uncomfortable for us. The bed sadly, is also rather uncomfy. It's also a shame that there's not really any privacy in the back garden as it isn't fenced off from 2 properties and you can't sit outside as the 3 loud dogs come over and continuously bark. If it wasn't for these few niggles, it could easily have been the perfect destination.

Very well equipped and comfortable. Location excellent for driving out of Darlington but not so good for early morning or evening walks. Close to shops etc.

Convenient for local supermarkets etc and very well placed for visiting the Yorkshire and Durham Dales, North York Moors, coast, Durham, Beamish Museum and more. Owners live nearby and are very helpful.
