About this property

An outstanding, stone-built detached barn conversion, in the beautiful, secluded hamlet of Pennington, three miles from the ancient market town of Ulverston. Fully renovated and lovingly restored, this cottage offers first-class accommodation, with a spacious living room with dining area and patio doors leading to lovely grounds, a beautiful kitchen, two delightful bedrooms and two luxurious bathrooms. One of four quality cottages on this peaceful site, the accommodation seamlessly combines original features with modern comforts, ideal for those looking for a cosy retreat. The Cumbrian Way and several footpaths run close by, ideal for walking and cycling. Ulverston, 3 miles, hosts many pubs and restaurants, whilst the sandy beaches of the Furness Coast, and Coniston, with its mountain biking and water sports, are a short drive. A terrific cottage, and a great base whatever the time of year. Note: This property can be booked with Refs: 2964, 2965, 951932, 958692, 977687, 1054351 and 1109638, together sleeping up to 35 people.

Situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, the scattered hamlet of Pennington is set in an area of gentle hills and unspoiled countryside. The start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths are close by, as are the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn – locally renowned for their fine ales and good food. Nearby Ulverston is an ancient market town, which still holds a streetmarket every Thursday and Saturday. Today, this settlement is best known as a "festival town", with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel. As a result, it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. Facilities there include a wide range of shops, pubs, and restaurants whilst all of the attractions of the National Park are within easy reach. Also close by is the Furness Coast, boasting sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Other attractions include the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and so we could relax and enjoy from day one. The surrounding area is beautiful, very peaceful and extremely quiet... Could not ask for a better location. The cottage was extremely clean and warm. Would definitely come again.

A lovely cosy cottage to come back to after a day out, can imagine the garden is a gem in the warmer weather especially for families. The owners are very friendly and helpful if you need them.
