About this property

A beautiful, 200-year old, stone-built terraced cottage, located by a lovely stream on the outskirts of the market town of Sedbergh. A former Victorian workhouse, this Sedbergh cottage is a first-class property, lovingly renovated to retain a host of original features, including original beams, original oak and stone flooring and exposed stonework. Set out over three floors, the accommodation in this Sedbergh cottage is full of immense warmth and character, and with its cosy sitting room with beamed ceiling and welcoming modern fire, delightful kitchen, fabulous bathrooms and spacious bedrooms, the property seamlessly combines olde worlde charm with modern conveniences. While there is no designated garden at the cottage, just a minute's walk away is a pool in the river, ideal for swimming, and a small park which makes a lovely spot to sit out. A truly wonderful Sebergh cottage, ideal for a small family or those wishing to get away from it all. Sedbergh nestles at the foot of the beautifully unspoilt Howgills, free from crowds of tourists and walkers. There are several excellent pubs and cafes serving great food, as well as an inspiring deli and an award-winning butcher. Both Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are a 20-minute car journey away, and the cottage is perfectly located on the doorstep of both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. There are many local places of interest to visit including Fairfield Mill, the picturesque village of Dent and the renowned Ingleton Waterfalls. A great Sedbergh cottage in an location for a romantic retreat - treat yourself!

Sedbergh - pronounced Sed-Ber – is an ancient market town situated in northern Dentdale within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town itself boasts narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs and a famous school, dating back to 1536. There is also an atmospheric 12th Century church. Dentdale is located amongst rolling hills and stretches 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the heart of the dale is the town of Dent, which has existed since Norman times and is a labyrinth of winding cobbled streets. There are three golf courses in the vicinity as well as tennis, horse riding and fishing. With such incredible scenery and so many fascinating trails, the area is a great place for walkers and cyclists. This, together with the surrounding valleys and two National Parks, makes Sedburgh a fantastic spot for a holiday outdoors.
