    About this property

Grange-over-Sands 1.3 miles. This stylish, semi-detached cottage is situated a short distance from the Kents Bank railway station and just over one mile from the elegant Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands. Set near the striking Cumbrian coastline, this excellent cottage offers beautiful views across Morecambe Bay, with its forever-changing scenery. With contemporary furnishings, the open plan living area is bright and spacious, yet can be instantly made cosy and intimate with its warming woodburner. There is space for everyone to enjoy a tasty meal at the dining table, whilst patio doors allow you to catch every aspect of the delightful view. The master bedroom and bathroom solely occupy the first floor, and two further bedrooms with a shower room can be found on the ground floor, making Tidings the perfect base for families or friends. Outside is a front garden with lots of interesting plants whilst at the back is a patio with a table tennis table and garden furniture, elevated to enjoy the evening sun as it sets beyond the bay. Grange-over-Sands is just a short distance away, and within a seven-minute drive you can be in the charming village of Cartmel, with its exquisite priory, award-winning restaurants and attractive racecourse. The beautiful Lake District National Park is also easily accessible with popular Lake Windermere just seven miles away, and with the train station just a short stroll away, why not leave the car behind for the day? The whole area comprises outstanding scenery, so no matter which direct you head in, you’ll always find a quiet corner, a tempting tea room or a wonderful walk to enjoy at any time of the year.

Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching.

"Bedrooms had damp black molds furniture needs up dating no where to hang clothes in one bedroom freezer needs defrosting drawers stuck weak internet smell in hall shabby throws on beds down stairs"
    Mr Henderson ‐ 1 Jul 2018
"The cottage is very nice but the lack of cleaning let it down from cob webs in the bathrooms to the dirt under the sofa The back door having a broken panel ( that the owner already new about) and a wasp bite outside the same door that had been there sometime There may be two showers but only one can be used at one time as no pressure"
    Mr Kefford ‐ 1 Jul 2018
"The view is magnificent! - a source of fascination for us. When we arrived the black bin at the front of the property was overdlowing with black bags of rubbish and the recycling boxes were higglety-pigglety. When the bin men came, they refused to take the recycling as it had not been sorted properly. What a shame that the cleaners did not check that - I sorted it all so that next time it will be taken. But not what I expect in terms of service. ..."

"This was the first time we had visited Grange over Sands. The bungalow is just over a mile out of town but the views over the bay were stunning, and it provided an excellent base for touring all around the south Lakes, including taking a train journey up the coast from Kents Bank Station which is only 5 minutes from the house. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Access is fantastic for anyone with a disability. Kitchen equipment is new and we had everything we needed for cooking. It was a bonus having two bathrooms and we agreed it was one of the most comfortable and tastefully decorated places we have rented. The only downside is the walk into town is about half an hour if you need to do shopping, but we chose to drive"
    Ms Fitzgerald
"lovely place with everything we needed, really enjoyed our stay."
    Mrs Lord
"We loved it....it was perfect and the views are stunning"

"Only thing against the cottage was the lack of a dishwasher"
    Mrs Kitch
"The photos on your website don't do justice to the wonderful view from this cottage."
    Mr Doney
"we came here last year and loved it. loved it even more this year with new patio and widening of driveway a great improvement. cant fault it,excellent in every way thank you"
    Mrs Lawson
"Wonderful house which I would recommend. Lovely fittings and furniture, the owner should re-do the pictures particularly of the bedrooms as the ones on the website do not do it justice. The owner, Hilary, does ask you to take your recycling home, we had to many people to do this so had to put in the dustbin. It was only on our way home did we notice a sign on outskirts of Grange-Over-Sands for what we believe was recycling bins in a public carpark - perhaps this should be put in the book for future reference. Lovely pubs nearby, beware of the parking 'sleeping policeman' at the Royal Oak in Lindale, when entering do so from the RHS - lovely Sunday lunch."
Miss Elisabeth Sykes, Brighouse, West Yorkshire
"Lovely property, the owners have clearly thought of everything you may need, and more to make your stay perfect."
    Mrs Kear
"Someone has put a lot of time and love in to this cottage! It is well planned and very comfortable. It had everything we required for a relaxing holiday."
    Mr Holstead, Southport,
"The view overlooking Morecambe Bay was just wonderful, we loved just watching the tide coming in and the ever changing weather, whilst sat in front of the log burner. Also Grange-over sands is such a lovely quaint place, the promenade was great for walking the dog and getting plenty of fresh air."
    Mrs Marion Castro, Blackpool, Lancashire
"Tidings was very tastefully decorated and furnished. It was well insulated and cosy. The large living room/dining room/kitchen proved to be ideal for our family get together. The best bit of all was the view over the bay; even in awful weather."
Mr Michael Greenfield, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
"Liked the stylish décor and furnishings as well as the fabulous views from the property."
Mrs Susan Thompson, Solihull, West Midlands
"The property was situated in an excellent location with superb views of the bay and within walking distance of Kents Bank station. The house felt well cared for with tasteful, comfortable furnishings. It was a pleasure to return to at the end of each day. "
    Mrs Ann Marsh, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire
"This cottage had a fantastic lay out and situation with good views over the bay."
    Mrs Roslyn Woodhurst, Knaresborough,
"Tidings had a great feel to it, it was beautifully decorated and had attention to detail, and of course wonderful views! It was perfect for my mum of 88, me and my daughter. We were so thrilled with our stay that I text the owner to let her know how we felt!"
Mrs Catherine Glennie, Perth, Perth and Kinross
"The cottage was very comfortable and cosy. We were afforded lovely views from the lounge over Morecambe Bay (even on the wet days) and would definitely consider revisiting sometime."
    - Mr Hough, October 2018
"Nice cottage with an interesting collection of books."
    - Mr Riley, September 2018
"So why? The position ,view, upstairs bedroom and bathroom were fine as was the back twin room and downstairs bathroom with the shower exactly as stated. The kitchen was well equipped down to a kitchen roll even though the microwave on top of the tall fridge was a bit wobbly when being used. However my wife can't climb a staircase and the downstairs double was disappointing with three very old pieces of furniture and no wardrobe or hanging provision. The real issue was the uncomfortable nature of the lounge seating. The settee had seen much use and some of the cushions had packing underneath to stop the springs coming through which was something we had never experienced before. The other chairs were a collection of random units which were hard and uncomfortable to use for a whole evening as two mature people would require. Some of the cottages we have used around the country have seen us do repeat visits as they have been much more comfortable. We won't go back to this one. There was no visitor book for our comments and can't imagine you will publish this and you will be pleased to know we don't believe in Trip Adviser or Social Media.."
    - Mr Ullman, August 2018
"We found the cottage to be very comfortable, with great views and well placed for a visit to the Lake District."
    - Mr Kefford, July 2018
"The view is magnificent! - a source of fascination for us. When we arrived the black bin at the front of the property was overdlowing with black bags of rubbish and the recycling boxes were higglety-pigglety. When the bin men came, they refused to take the recycling as it had not been sorted properly. What a shame that the cleaners did not check that - I sorted it all so that next time it will be taken. But not what I expect in terms of service. There was a wasps nest in the eaves just outside the kitchen window. I phoned on our first full day and they said it would be dealt with immediately. It took 10 days and a further phone call for someone to come and look, and then a further 36 hours for the nest to be removed. Meant we could not - in very hot weather, have the kitchen windows open at all. After our first week the cleaners came and changed the beds and towels. they took away one of two thin pillows and pillow cases which was clearly not part of the house belongings - it was brightly coloured - and we did not notice until we came to bed. My wife is slightly disabled and it is important that things like that - which we take with us - are in our bed to aid comfort. I phoned the next morning - the person who answered was apparently the person who had been in the day before - and she said that there was only one pillow on the bed in the green case - which was not the case, but she was sure and so was the person with her. I asked her to find out. She said it would have gone to the laundry. I insisted there were two pillows and now we only had one. She phoned me back and said the other person did remember that there were two, but did not recall scooping the second one up. She would check with the laundry and come back to me. After 4 days I phoned again, asking where the pillow was (and reminding her about the wasp's nest). She said she had only just come back on duty and would check for me. Later that day she phoned me to say they had found the pillow and it would be delivered back later that day. Indeed it was - sevearl days after it disappeared. Like the previous tenants' comments on line, the cleaning of the property leaves much to be desired. Cobwebs around the bathroom, dust on the skirting boards and behind furniture. We did a major clean ourselves and toyed with the idea of sending you an invoice. We left it in a cleaner state than we had found it. Disappointing."
