"We booked this house for a week as wanted somewhere to stay after we took our son to uni in Ambleside and this was a perfect base. House was very clean and had an unusual layout with hall, bathroom, utility room and two bedrooms on the ground floor. Stairs leading up to the sitting room and kitchen and then stairs to the master bedroom with ensuite shower room. The kitchen was wonderful with everything you needed for your stay and we loved the windows in there as was so bright. We didn't use the little garden to the back of the back of the house but in the early summer months I bet it would have been lovely to sit out there but did feel it was overlooked by the neighbours and their dogs which barked at us when we opened the door! But we didn't hear them other than that. We felt that stair gates would have be a good idea to have as well, as we had an 8 month old crawling baby that wanted to explore. The bed was very comfy in the master bedroom and the velux windows were great to stargaze. The village of Cark had a lovely bakers called fat flour where we tried the pizzas and they were delicious would recommend them. Nice fish and chip shop in the village too . We were about 35 mins to Windermere and 45 mins to Ambleside which are both beautiful and would recommend a visit. We visited new parts of the lakes which we had never visited before as was closer being in flookburgh. Villages such as hawkshead and coniston which are beautiful with little pubs and tearooms. Not too far was Hilltop ,Beatrix potters home in near sawrey. The lakeside aquarium was great and very cheap. The steam railway and Windermere steamers operate from here too and the car park was great £4 for 10 hours so worth parking here and getting the boat to Ambleside . We had a wonderful week away and always love coming back up to the lakes. The house is a great base for Cumbria and the lakes ."

"We have thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The house is immaculate and tastefully decorated to create a warm, cosy place to stay whilst visiting this region. We had everything here that is needed to offer a home from home holiday. Loved everything about it, the underfloor heating, large well equipped kitchen, gorgeous bedroom with sky windows and lovely ensuite. The bathroom is gorgeous as well and the utility room was a welcomed surprise. We highly recommend staying here, it's a peaceful, cosy home."

"The cottage itself is stunningly decorated with everything you need to feel at home! We travelled with 2 young children and 4 adults and it was perfect for us all to put the children to bed and the adults enjoy the games provided, make meals and watch the tv and dvds. We will definitely be back!"

    Mrs Self
"The property was really well equipped and suitable for all ages. Ideally situated for travelling around the Lake District by car or train."
    Celia S
"Superbly equipped property, (from the kitchen and laundry room, to the dvd and games drawers) that made our holiday just perfect. The owners have thought carefully about what their guests may want or need. They have also added some lovely touches that make the property really homely. Willow Barn is ideally positioned for travelling around the Lake District, either by car or by train, as the station is just a short walk away."
    Mr Stephen Rayner, Rossendale, Lancashire
"The location of this property provided convenient access to many places of interest. The property itself was in a quiet, peaceful setting and was of a high standard."
Mr Michael Moriarty, Bingley, West Yorkshire
"Willow Barn has the wow factor. It is a warm and cosy home which is tastefully decorated and furnished. The owners have made sure we would enjoy our holiday, and have gone the extra mile to make it comfortable. The key collection system was very practical."
    Mrs Davies
"We stayed at Willow Barn last year and were happy to return. It is a lovely property in a wonderful area. We found the house to be very relaxing and comfortable. There is a very cosy feel to the place but it is also very modern. It is 10 mins walk to the estuary in a couple of different directions so this was lovely and very close to Grange and Cartmel which are great places to visit. Windermere is 30 mins by car."
    Linzt
"This is a truly gorgeous barn conversion. We were a family of 5 covering 3 generations from age 6 to age 82 and it had everything we needed. Decorated to a really high standard, and a great base to holiday round the lakes from. The only thing that could be added to make this 5 star would be the addition of wifi in the house, even if it's charged for. There is no phone coverage on 4 of the main networks, which made it very difficult to either research places to go, or check in on the dreaded work emails when necessary. Blinds would also be a bonus in the master bedroom, especially in the spring sunshine, but these are really minor niggles in a truly beautiful and well equipped house. The nearby safari park for kids was excellent, and access to other lake attractions is an easy drive. We would definitely visit again."
    Mr Paul Terrell, Dunfermline,
" The house was very well catered for and expertly decorated."
    Kelly J
"Wereally enjoyed our stay. We holidayed with our daughters, son in law and grandson. The house is very well furnished and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The house deserved five stars and the house was all we needed in October. I gave it four because the outside area is only a courtyard at the rear and an area at the front with a sitting area no garden. Parking is limited to one car. I would most definatly stay there again."
Dr Alistair Horman, Manchester, Greater Manchester
""The accommodation was excellent and the cottage was great base from which to explore the local area." "
    - Mrs Major, November 2018
"The lakes are a short drive away and there’s a train station only ten minutes walk.It was lovely to return to a warm comfortable cottage to relax after seeing all that the Lake District has to offer."
    - Prof Chambers, September 2018
"The place was exactly as expected - charming, comfortable and would be perfect for a family. We didn’t use the outdoor areas, as it was too chilly, but it was great to be able to walk to the village shops. The owners had kindly left tea and coffee, etc, for us which was appreciated."
    Mrs Ruth Fink, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex
"The first class standard of Willow Barn. Certainly the best we have stayed in. It was clean, well-equipped and comfortable - a joy to stay there."
    Mrs Dawn Minness, BRECON, Powys
"The accommodation was a good base for where we wanted to visit. The cottage was comfortable and very clean, we loved it!"
    Jennifer R
"We really enjoyed our stay at the willow barn cottage. The cottage it's self is a beautiful barn conversion. It's comfortably furnished to a high standard. We often stay in cottages and over the years have accumulated a "kit" of stuff that has been missing or of not a high enough standard, this time we could have lived without our kit! The kitchen was equipped with everything you need and it was all of good quality. The gardens are small but lovely. Parking can be tricky if all the neighbours have parked, but street parking is very close by and quite convenient."
    Mrs Jennifer Ryan, London,
"Lovely cottage, the best equipped kitchen so far. Good location."
    Erika Forrester, Dunfermline,
"We loved the cottage, it was very comfortable, beautifully decorated, well equipped and well placed for days out."
    Freya B
"Lovely house with an amazing big kitchen and bath. In a nice quiet area, a perfect getaway, lots of things to do including a great day at the zoo :) would have been nice to have some information about the house such as what to do with the bins and how to work the heating and kitchen appliances. Would love to return, wish we could have stayed longer."
Ms Heather Noakes, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire
"We had a fantastic time at Willow Barn. The owner is very helpful. It is a beautiful place, and we also had Christmas decorations and a tree which really made the holiday. Would definitely return and recommend to a friend."
    Daniel M
"Stayed here for a week with friends. The cottage was lovely - well presented and decorated. All mod cons available and the rooms were a fair size. As the season had ended, the majority of places were closed, however there are lovely walks to be had close by and also trips out to Cartmel, Ulverstaon, Grange, Barrow and Lake Windermere are musts. The area is lovely and quiet and we spent our nights within the cottage. Theresa re dvd's, books and games already available which was a nice surprise. Would definitely recommended staying here!"

"Our second visit to this property. We love the barn. It's location, albeit 20 minutes drive to the lakes suited us. "

"The cottage is immaculate and very modern inside. The kitchen and 3rd floor bedroom were my favourite as they have sky lights in so you can see the stars at night. The Raine's have catered for everything in this cottage from cutlery to washing up liquid and cleaning sprays and board games and dvds. Stayed here with my husband and 3 friends and all 5 of us absolutely loved it there! Excellent location for anybody doing a sky dive at skydive north west - it is literally a 15 min walk or 5 min car drive away. Other than that the location is a bit out from windemere / bowness but we still managed to go 3 days out of the 4 that we stayed as it is only about 30 min drive away!"
    Mr Perkins, Frodsham, Cheshire
"The property was of outstanding quality in every respect and with a definite eye on the customer. It was immediately a home with space and comfort, all highly maintained."
    Mrs Casey, Chesterfield, Derbyshire
"We found the entire holiday was perfect. The location was good and there was lots to do in the rain or sun for all ages."
