From the dining area there are patio doors leading onto the private south-facing patio, perfect for a morning coffee or an alfresco evening meal. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms with contemporary furnishings and a generous bathroom with bath which is perfect for a soak after your day’s activities. From the cottage there is the charming River Eea and the village amenities are less than a five minute stroll away. There is also a local railway station which runs up the west coast making an interesting and picturesque day out, allowing you to enjoy the coast line to Barrow-In-Furness, in the opposite direction there is the elegant Grange-Over-Sands or across the viaduct and estuary is pretty Arnside. Close by is the picturesque Cartmel village with its 12th century Priory and home to the UK’s smallest race course which holds regular fixtures throughout the summer when free shuttle buses operate from Cark train station. Cartmel is also the home of sticky toffee pudding which you can buy from the artisan bakery as well as a number of quality pubs and cafes offering delicious meals, not forgetting the renowned L’Enclume restaurant. Food lovers will certainly not be disappointed with Cartmel, and as it is surrounded by countryside walks you can burn off those extra calories! At Newby Bridge you can embark on a water cruise to bustling Bowness, home to the enchanting Beatrix Potter attraction. Alternatively, from here you can enjoy the stream train to Haverthwaite, visit the motor museum and cyclists will delight in close by Grizedale Forest with its array of cycle tracks for all abilities. Cark in Cartmel is a small Lakeland village just two miles from Cartmel, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District. Cark is well served by the Furness line railway, and features pretty streamside strolls, lovely walks to the local coastline, overlooking Morecambe Bay, two fine traditional old pubs and a scattering of small shops.
