About this property

This delightful, semi-detached cottage is located in beautiful countryside, close to the village of Warcop and just over six miles from Appleby-in-Westmorland. Superbly located for exploring both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks, the cottage has been lovingly restored to provide excellent, spacious and comfortable accommodation for families and friends. There are two double bedrooms, a twin room and an excellent family bathroom, along with a kitchen with a dining area, a superb sitting room with a woodburning stove and a snug. Outside, there is a delightful garden to the front of the property, with lovely plants all year long, while at the rear, there is a patio and a further lawned area where you can sit and enjoy dining in the summer sunshine. The surrounding area is a walkers' heaven, with several trails and footpaths straight from the door and cyclists will enjoy the challenging terrain. Visit the charming market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, through which the River Eden weaves its way to the Solway Firth. Being so close to the Yorkshire Dales, why not visit the lovely market town of Hawes and try some of the famous Wensleydale cheese or enjoy afternoon tea in one of the beautiful cafes; or head to Upper Teesdale and visit the Moor House National Nature Reserve? The Settle-Carlisle Railway is the perfect way to explore this beautiful region, as it crosses some of the wildest countryside in England over the Ribblehead Viaduct. Barnard Castle is just 20 minutes' drive away, where you can visit the beautiful Bowes Museum, with its stunning collections. On another day, head over to Pooley Bridge and discover the beautiful village of Patterdale, perched along the shores of Ullswater. With so much to see and do nearby, at any time of the year, this cottage is the perfect place to stay whilst discovering Cumbria and The Yorkshire Dales.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the Pennine range with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two national parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. Visit Appleby in June and experience the atmosphere of the three hundred-year old Horse Fair. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

Allyson is a lovely woman and hostess, ensuring we had everything we needed and more, and a passionate dog lover like ourselves, so Nellie our pooch got spoilt! This place really is special, from waking up to the horses, rabbits running around and the lovely rolling hills, we are already planning our next visit. 10/10. Thanks for all your help Allyson
