The house was easy to book online and the location is ideal for touring the Lake District. The setting/house is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable for groups or families. The log fire was particularly good with plentiful supply of logs and firelighters and matches, thank goodness, as I would never remember to bring them! However, the house was very difficult to find as we arrived in the dark. The directions through Lazonby were good but I didnt realise the house was so far out of the village. It was hard to see the turning for Lazonby Hall in the dark. Luckily my daughter passenger saw the wall with the sign for Lazonby Hall and the drive up to the house. It would be better if there was a sign on the road pointing to the houses. The directions were good after that. But, the house is in a small courtyard and there was no parking available in front of the house. It was pitch black and I couldnt find the house very easily. Luckily I did have a head torch in the car and this came in very handy for finding the house and the keys. A kind neighbour helped us find the correct holiday home and directed us to the parking up the hill. Again this was pitch black and I needed my torch to find my way about. My friend arrived later and I had to stand at the road end to direct her to the house as she couldnt find it. She also parked in the space for the other holiday home as she had a 5 year old with her. There was very little space left for parking/turning up the hill.Again we needed the torchlight to empty the car, etc. We were able to use this parking space as there was no-one in the other holiday home, but it would have been a problem if there was. The parking should be made clearer in the details. Dont know why we cant park in front of the holiday home as we are paying for it? The parking up the back is okay for one car but not two. Other than that it was a brilliant house with great amenities.Only slight complaint was lack of bin in the kitchen! Also did not find key safe.
