Couldn't have been a better week. The only bugbear was poor mobile reception but after the stresses of work I realised even this was a Godsend. The host (whose artwork is gorgeous) is non-intrusive and very discreet. Cottage is immaculate, very comfortable, three pubs in the next village along (five minute drive), two of which do amazing food (especially the "Fethers"). Would definitely return again. Views are stunning, walks (if you like that) are gorgeous. Absolutely tranquil, gorgeous and well worth the money, which is extraordinarily perfect value. 5***

Heather Cottage was just perfect for our short break in the Lakes and was beautifully located just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist track. The owner was very accommodating and we found the cottage in perfect condition and spent the evenings basking in the peace and quiet. We will be going back.

Visited in august,my first visit to the lake district,a lovely spot,I spent a nice half hour sitting in the sun looking out at the fields. Need a car if you want to venture a little further. We managed to get to Keswick, Ulswater, Carlisle (interesting guided tour of the castle), Grassmere. Take my advice don't bother with the Ice Cream Farm or the chocolate factory advertised in one of the brochures. A very long drive for a farm that sells ice cream and a shop that sells chocolate. We did visit a minitures museum which was fab. Of course it does not need saying that the scenery is spectacular, lots of nice walks. The cottage itself is very nice, two lovely bedrooms, a lovely warm duvet in the single room, and a lounge and kitchen diner which is big enough if you do not want to eat out. (one little niggle a few cobwebs that needed to be removed). You will definitely need to use the lovely wood burnung stove when the weather gets cooler. Take my advice and eat a least once at the local pub that the owner recomends,I had the best steak I had ever eaten.
