About this property

This is a lovely mostly first floor annexe, attached to a Grade II listed detached house, in the village of Edenhall in Cumbria. This delightful annexe is set in superb countryside and offers an ideal retreat for two. The perfect base for discovering all the delights of the Eden Valley and the Northern Lakes. From the front door, take the stairs up to the first floor open plan living space which has character beams, a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, a comfortable seating area and a king-size double bed, plus there's a separate ground floor shower room. Outside this delightful cottage there is a small courtyard garden where you can relax with a refreshing drink, after a day spent walking in the beautiful local countryside. The surrounding area provides an array of interesting walks, excellent cycling and good touring opportunities. The market town of Penrith has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a swimming pool and cinema, and further afield is the Lake District National Park. A short drive away are Alston, Appleby, Keswick and the magnificent lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater. Down the road from Edenhall there are many other attractive villages with country pubs serving fine quality cask ales. Drive to Langwathby on what has been voted among the top ten scenic driving roads in the world. The Eden Gorge is also well worth a visit, from where you can join the Settle-Carlisle Railway and enjoy one of the most beautiful railway journeys. Visit Alston, the highest market town in England, or take a day trip to discover the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks.     Started to unpack very little hanging space for two also you had to hang your coats on the same rail and the fram was very rickety.got up the stairs what a nice very large rook.put our food away then went for a meal down the road.went back to the cottage as we shut the door the wind was coming in as the door was closed very cold.had a brew then went to watch t v put all3 radiators on full approx 18.30.the radiators was inadequate for the size of room.put our coats on and wrapped our selfs up.went to bed 22.00hrs.my wife went to the toilet 5times in the night and could not find the light stwich as this was on the floor.my side of the bed no lihgt at all?next morning took our dog for his walk.we spoke about how cold it was and we decided that we shoul go home.spoke to the owner just befoe we left she said tha we should have taken the mobile heater up i found this inappropriate as i am 72yrs old and what would have happed if i had a fall?. last the said cottage is not a cottage but a studio in my oppion this would be a nice place to stay in in the summer.so for the 17hrs we stayed there it cost us £301 full cost was£401 they gave us £100 refund. yours thankfully roy walters.
