Snaptrip says

New House in Cumbria is a spacious and well-loved family home, offering stunning views and a peaceful, remote location ideal for large gatherings. Guests appreciate the functional and well-equipped kitchen, extensive gardens, and the cosy feel of the property, despite some noting areas in need of TLC.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found New House to be very clean, with only a few mentioning that certain areas could benefit from additional attention. The overall impression is of a tidy and well-maintained property.

The property's remote location is highly praised for its tranquillity and stunning panoramic views. Guests love the rural setting and proximity to nature, though some note the distance to shops requires planning.

The majority of guests found New House comfortable, with its spacious rooms and family-friendly layout. However, some guests mentioned that the mattresses and sofas could be updated for improved comfort.

The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and guests enjoy the open-plan living space. Some guests reported issues with the dishwasher and heating, suggesting that some facilities could benefit from maintenance or upgrading.

While guests frequently mention the homely feel and personal touches, there are no specific references to gifts or special amenities provided by the host, so it is not possible to score thoughtfulness in this context.

About this property

New House is an impressive original Cumbrian farm house incorporating a modern extension for today’s 21C lifestyles. Originally built in 1909, with commanding views of the Scottish Borders and rolling farmland it is set in its own 2 acres of gardens.

This charming house has been thoughtfully extended to create a welcoming, peaceful, rural retreat, ideal for a group of friends or a large family gathering.

Comfortably furnished throughout, the house incorporates many original features in the rooms at the front, housing a sitting room with inglenook fireplace and warming woodburner, and a separate formal dining room, perfect for a celebration dinner, along with a snug to put your feet up and relax in.

The dining room leads to a spacious open plan extension with well-equipped kitchen, island unit, comfy sofas, multi-fuel stove and large family breakfast area, offering a great social space where the whole party can congregate together, some warming their toes by the fire whilst the nominated chef prepares a culinary delight for the evening ahead. In the summer months walk through to the patio area with a stunning vista and wonderful sunsets.

On the first floor, five large comfortable bedrooms, two with en-suite facilities, provide flexible sleeping arrangements.

Set in a large, beautifully tended garden, there's plenty of space around this holiday cottage for the whole family to enjoy; take a seat on the patio and take in the lovely views over The Flatt, Blackpool Gate and the Scottish Borders.

Locally, explore the ruins of Bewcastle and St Cuthbert’s Church with the 7th century Bewcastle Cross, or simply don your wellies, call the dogs and stride out from the doorstep to discover the wealth of footpaths interweaving the rich surrounding pastureland.

A little further afield, why not spend the day exploring Kielder Forest, take a trip to Carlisle, discover the beautiful Solway Coast or enjoy a visit to Hadrian's Wall?

Perhaps head north, visiting the Dumfries & Galloway coastline, or the famous Scottish Borders with all their Border Reiver history?

Or to go south, the Lake District and Northern Lakes are reachable within the hour, enabling you to walk some Lakeland Fells.

There are many attractions to choose from, from fascinating historic sites to interesting towns and forest parks.

The perfect destination for that long-awaited family get together.

The attractive, unspoilt rural village of Brampton is ideally placed for exploring the Eden Valley, Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The village has a pub, which serves good food, and is just two miles from the historic town of Appleby. With the delightful Pooley Bridge, Penrith and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

Lovely surrounding areas for walks and with beautiful scenery for a lovely relaxing and quiet getaway!

Beautiful surroundings and a fantastic view. Owner Ross was great at resolving an issue with the cooker with a quick response. New House is so spacious and perfect for our family 50th and 20th birthday celebrations. Hayton swimming pool is fantastic to book online we had a few early morning swims. Brampton is handy for shopping. Had a lovely break enjoying the peace and quiet. Lots of stairs and steps up and down to bathrooms and dining area - we are all a little fitter but worth noting as my older parents struggled a little at times but didn't spoil what was a fantastic week.
