This impressive Georgian country house, with adjoining owners’ annexe, stands in 3 acres of lawned garden in the farming hamlet of Edderside, a small rural community close to the Cumbrian coastline and a sandy beach in Allonby (2 miles). The extensive holiday accommodation has been restored with great attention to detail and style, retaining character and furnished comfortably. It is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with views across the garden and countryside towards the Skiddaw mountain range in the Lake District, and enjoys stunning sunsets towards the Scottish hills from the front. The route 72 national cycle way runs past the house, and countryside and shoreline walks abound. There is a championship golf course at Silloth with others nearby. The Solway marshes are popular with bird watchers and fishermen, nature lovers, and watersport enthusiasts are all well catered for. Alternatively relax in the walled, fenced and gated grounds with plenty of sitting out areas. Centrally located between the lakeside town of Keswick and the historic city of Carlisle (both 23 miles) this is an excellent location for families and groups of friends wishing to explore the Lake District, Scottish Border and Cumbrian Coast. The interesting and traditional market town of Cockermouth (birthplace of Wordsworth) is 11 miles. Shops and pubs 2 miles.

    "Had a lovely stay at Edderside Hall. It's a warm and cosy house, with plenty of space for us (a large group of friends including children)There isn't masses to do locally, but it's an easy drive to the Lakes, and the local beach is nice for a trudge. Comfy beds, and the best-equipped kitchen I've ever had in a holiday home!"

    "Needs some TLC and modern TVs thought it would be helpful having more than 1 TV being a large party but the additional telly's were old fashioned and didn't work. The grass was over grown but the gardener's turned up at the end of the week."

    "Excellent house easily able to accommodate family groups. We had 10 adults and 3 children and never felt crowded. Kitchen has all the crockery and utensils we needed to cater for our group each evening. Great holiday. Highly recommended."

    "The photographer who took the photo of the house made in look as if it stood alone when in fact it was situated right next to a working farm and Edderside was in fact a small conclave of houses. The house furniture was well used and the house had a fair amount of cobwebs, door handles in need of replacement or repair, showers not properly cleaned.There was a code for wi-fi but we could not get connected.Our group consisted of 16 and the dishwasher broken and looked as if it had been like this a while, however the kitchen was as described and shown in the photos. The first floor bedroom was cold and the radiator did not keep it warm, other bedrooms were the same. If your guests have any mobility issues do not go to this house, there is only one small toilet downstairs off the conservatory. There is an open fire but no wood supplied (advised of this) I spent over £40 on logs for 2days. This was my second experience of going to a country house the first house Craig Bittern in Dalbeattie (also on the Solway coast) was far superior Edderside Hall and cost half the price."

    "We were a family of 18, including adults and children. The cottage was very rural with no local amenities close by, which suited us. Very quiet during the day and night so no disturbance. The property was big enough for all, although it needs some TLC. Front of dishwasher broken so difficult to open, should really be fixed. Plenty crockery and utensils. Could do with some general maintenance, but this did not stop our enjoyment of the whole family being together."

    "We had a family gathering. We all had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for our needs - great facilities but not too perfect so we weren't worried about having a lot of children there. Would definitely recommend and stay again."
