About this property

A stunning 4-bedroom lodge by the lake, The Glasshouse combines an immaculate interior with an inspiring location. On an exclusive gated development, just south of Cirencester in Gloucestershire, this beautiful home benefits from a hot tub right outside and plenty of natural light.

The main living and dining area is located on the first floor, its elevated position making the view of the lake all the more enjoyable. You have access to the balcony from this room which has seating for eight and a log-burner, as well as a TV. A separate snug area provides another option. There’s a dining area on this level, as well as an open-plan kitchen with a fridge, freezer, gas hob, microwave and more.

The lower level is the location of three of the bedrooms, as well as the family bathroom. You have two king-size bedrooms with balconies overlooking the lake and en suite bathrooms with either a shower or a bath and overhead shower. Also on this level is a room with bunk beds, ideal for children. All of the bedrooms offer plenty of storage with large wardrobes.

The master suite can be found on the top floor, featuring a super king-size bed, beautiful en suite and a mezzanine-level balcony which overlooks the living area. If you should need a travel cot and high chair for a small child, these are available too.

For an additional charge, you can make use of the hot tub outside the property, and the terrace offers the opportunity to dine al fresco. The gated development has much more to discover too, with a spa complete with gym and sauna, an onsite shop, restaurant open for meals throughout the day and lots of natural beauty. There are great sports facilities too, for tennis, volleyball, kayaking and numerous other lake-based activities. It’s all just a short drive from Cirencester, with historic sights, excellent shopping and dining around 8km from the estate

On the region’s southern fringes, Cirencester is one of the major centres of the Cotswolds, and offers much more than just sightseeing. It’s certainly a town with a history – at one time the second-largest in Britain – but it hasn’t become a tourist hub in the manner of many of England’s heritage cities, meaning it’s even more of a joy for those who do come exploring.

You can get an insight into the history of Cirencester at its Corinium Museum, this being the Roman name for the town. Mosaics and artefacts bring the story vividly to life, and children can get involved too with special activities. Those who love art, nature or both will find something to please them at Cirencester’s Elemental Sculpture Park, where more than 150 pieces are dotted around the woodlands.

You wouldn’t expect to find many beaches in Gloucestershire, but there is one at the Cotswold Country Park at Shorncote to the south of Cirencester, a place made for family fun with a water park and children’s playground. For a bit of culture, the town’s Sundial Theatre offers a varied programme of events, and those with an eye for a bargain can explore the antiques and collectibles on offer at the Corn Hall indoor market on Fridays.

The town’s excellent dining scene certainly shouldn’t be overlooked – you will have no trouble tracking down anything from an artisan coffee to a Michelin Star three-course meal. Among the highest-rated places in town are Tierra & Mar, a great spot for tapas, and The Falcon at Poulton, where the food is restaurant quality and the setting is a delightful country pub.

We stayed here for my partners 30th birthday and it was the perfect place. The accomodation is absolutely stunning. The photos don’t do it justice at all. Waking up in the mornings to those views was sensational. The property is easy to find and is close to both Oxford and Bourton-on-the-water. Will definitely be returning! Tip:The kitchen doesn’t have many cooking essentials such as oil so make sure you bring your own.
