This is actually our second stay here - we were last here in 2022. I'm pleased to say that we enjoyed our second visit. The beds are comfortable. The lounge has a 3-seater and a 2-seater plus an armchair - all of which were comfortable. The kitchen is large and well-equipped including with a large fridge, large freezer, full-sized dishwasher, plenty of pots and pans, cling film and baking foil. The heating was enough to keep us warm even though it was quite a cold January. We would definitely consider returning if we wanted to be in this part of the world again.

It was a convenient location as we have family nearby and would choose to stay here again. We were impressed by the array of kitchen equipment, but would have liked one or two 'simple' items such as a plain baking tray. An earlier review from September slightly alarmed us, but the bedding was all clean.

Access to the rear of the property to obtain the key was made difficult by overgrown ivy around the gate, the swing bin in the kitchen and the toilet flush in the en suite are broken, the glass occasional table in the dining area is loosely placed on the legs, there were cobwebs in the corners and dog hairs on the bed. The request not to strip the beds made us question whether there was fresh linen on the beds and with dog hairs evident we suspected that they werenât. Not what we have come to expect from Sykes Cottages.
