About this property

Avalenn Cottage is a split-level townhouse located in a quiet residential area, just a short walk from Wadebridge town centre. With the ever popular Camel Trail and not being too far from the quaint fishing village of Port Issac where Doc Martin was filmed, this is an ideal base for family holidays in Cornwall. Just a short drive away there are 7 wonderful beaches including Polzeath and Daymer Bay to explore.

As you arrive at the cottage and walk down a few steps past the apple tree to the front door, you will feel at home the minute you open the door. You enter into the mid-level hallway past the bathroom then down six steps to the cosy bedrooms. From the hallway you head up another six steps to the sitting area with beautiful views across the estuary. From here head up a few more steps to the galley kitchen which overlooks the dining area below, enabling you to talk about the day’s events whilst preparing the evening meal. A small enclosed rear garden provides just the spot to relax with a cooling drink after the day’s exertions. The popular town of Wadebridge is a short stroll away with a wonderful collection of pubs and excellent restaurants and bistros, as well as a good choice of independent shops. Take a short drive to the north Cornwall coast and some of the very best beaches around. Padstow with its fine selection of top quality restaurants is just eight miles away, or you could head to the millionaire’s paradise of Rock, which is sometimes referred to as Britain's Saint-Tropez, and is only six miles away. With the whole of Cornwall within easy reach, Avalenn Cottage really is an ideal location with so much to offer at any time of year.

Perfectly placed alongside the ebb and flow of the River Camel, the bustling market town of Wadebridge is an ideal location for exploring the natural beauty of North Cornwall. With an array of excellent shops, pubs and restaurants, all offering a personal and friendly service, this lovely little town is host to North Cornwall's only cinema. Surrounding the village is a network of local footpaths, amazing gardens and stately homes, all ready to explore. Passing through the town and providing 17 miles of traffic free walking, horse riding and cycling opportunities is the Camel Trail which follows the course of the river. The famed Cornish coast is within five miles and boasts a huge selection of long, sandy beaches, rocky coves and towering cliffs.

Wadebridge is a great base from which to explore Cornwall. The cottage is comfortable with a lovely little balcony with a pretty view. It is well equipped and we felt very at home and relaxed.

Good views from lounge. Suitable for 2 adults and 2 small children. Cons - whilst I appreciated having the condiments and basic kitchen items (ketchup, sauces, vinegar and oils etc) there were a lot of tin and packet food items (opened) that were way past the best before date (some 2018). Also 2 out of the 3 drawers in the freezer were full of opened frozen food only leaving 1 drawer for use. Overall a pleasant stay.

Had everything we needed. The view from the living room/balcony is beautiful. The photos on the website don't do it justice. Lived the layout. Great base to explore most of Cornwall. Most places were only 30 mins away. Would definitely stay there again.
