Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the town of Fowey boasts a beautiful estuary where the harbour is a magnet for sailing fans. Walk through the narrowing streets of the old town where there is a stream of medieval and Georgian buildings and browse in the quirky gift shops and art galleries. There are many bistros, cafes and restaurants to choose from offering plenty of local produce and plenty of seafood choice including the River Fowey mussels. Pop into the charmingly old fashioned, Fowey Aquarium where you can get up close at the petting pool or take the ferry across the harbour to Polruan where you can visit the spectacular cliff-side Headland Garden and indulge in a cream tea. The idyllic village of Golant is nearby where you can take a trip up the river or lose a few hours resting at a riverside pub. There are many pretty coves with sandy beaches nearby such as Lantic Bay and Ready Money Cove with the town of St Austell within easy driving distance. A perfect countryside retreat with so much to explore in the area.

The kitchen was perfectly equipped and the beds were very comfortable, so lovely to wake up in the morning with spectacular views. A real treat to be introduced to âWillowâ (our name for him!) a ten day old calf, part of the herd on the working farm, the chickens even âsqueezedâ out some eggs for us! ! Exceptional hosts with great advice about walks and restaurants, thanks for having us!

The barn was spotlessly clean, the cream tea was much appreciated. The breakfast was a delight, very enjoyable. We enjoyed a very peaceful week, lots of walking and visiting NT places. We will certainly be returning in the future. Thanks for making us welcome.
