Fabled as King Arthur’s birthplace, Tintagel crowns this landscape of legend and magical scenery – the famous ruins are a must and the area bursts with National Trust properties and renowned beaches. Bude, 12 miles, unites family favourite Crooklets Beach with fabulous food and shops, while St Ives, Padstow and Port Isaac are all easily accessible.

The cottage is well equipped and a good size, and it was great to have a fenced off garden space where the dog can go! Couldn’t use the hot tub on evening of arrival as it wasn’t up to temperature, but that’s not a big problem, it was lovely and warm the next day. I thought it unusual not to have basic toiletries provided, such as a small soap (the only thing we didn’t bring) managed to get some in the shop though.
