The Downalong area of St Ives is popular with holiday makers due to its abundance of fishermen's cottages which line the cobbled streets and its close proximity to the three main beaches of St. Ives: Porthgwidden - a smaller family beach just 30 seconds from the house; Porthmeor – offering rock pools and popular for water sports such as surfing; and, Harbour beach – a soft sandy beach sheltered from prevailing winds by the thick harbour walls.
St Ives is a beautiful town with award-winning golden sands and clear sea, narrow streets and lanes, galleries and craft shops alongside modern restaurants and cafes. The bustling harbour is home to many fishing boats that bring in quality catches of local fish that you will find in many of the restaurants.

...for a week and stayed in Zig Zag. A wonderful house with great facilities and most importantly a wonderful location. A few seconds down the hill and we were on the beach. In the evening we only had to walk a short distance to one of the many great restaurants. Zig Zag is a must, only thing for us was the sets of stairs which proved great fun for our 1 year old!
