About this property

With wonderful far reaching countryside views this clapperboard style detached house exudes pure comfort and simple elegance. This exceptionally spacious house is ideal for pulling together the generations of family or friends in any season. Great for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and all manner of festive feasts. You have a choice of two enormous sitting areas; one on the ground floor with stylish sofas beside the wood-burner or one on the first floor with vaulted ceiling, exposed timber beams and super countryside and distant sea views! The kitchen has all the mod cons including a huge American style fridge freezer. For the kids there is a snug, complete with Xbox One, Nintendo Wii and a selection of books, to chill out on squashy beanbags. On the ground floor are four generously proportioned bedrooms (one en-suite) with deep mattresses and quality oak furniture along with a pristine bathroom. On the first floor is the sumptuous master bedroom with en-suite shower room and high ceilings to enhance the sense of space and openness. Crackington Haven is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a perfect spot for families, with a gently sloping beach in an enclosed bay that is great for rock pools when the tide is out. Breathtaking scenery abounds and offers stunning walks in every direction. Why not take a walk north to Pencarrow Point and climb Cornwall's highest cliff? The Coombe Barton Inn, a bistro cafe and family pub offers delicious food, ales and refreshments. With so many of the area's fantastic beaches and beautiful coastal villages close by, as well as the famous seaside town of Bude just eight miles away, this really is the place for a holiday by the sea whatever the time of year. Nearby Boscastle, Port Isaac and Padstow are also highly recommended day trip destinations.

Crackington Haven is a charming cove near Boscastle, with a mix of rockpools, a sandy beach and good surf. There are two beach shops and cafes, which are wonderful to relax in and look out over the blue seas of the bay. Walking this section of the South West Coast Path, much of it owned by the National Trust, offers dramatic views, a host of wildflowers and an undulating terrain. Just along the coast is the quaint village of Boscastle, with gift shops, local restaurants and pubs offering good food, Cornish real ales and live entertainment by local musicians, making this an ever-popular visitor destination. The sandy beaches of Bossiney and Trebarwith Strand are within a short drive, as are the surfing beaches at Bude and Polzeath. Close at hand lies Tintagel, swathed in the legend of King Arthur, as well as several stately homes and renowned gardens, or the wide open space of Bodmin Moor, famous for its granite tors and Daphne Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn.

Spacious and very comfortable, just as described. It was great having the family space downstairs and separate lounge upstairs with plenty of comfortable seating. The local shop next door is excellent, and was even open for a couple of hours on Christmas/boxing day. Crackington is a lovely, friendly place and people would say hello and chat when we walked our dogs. The walk to the beach took us about half an hour. It is a big hill, but not all the way! At the beach is a fabulous pub called Coombe Barton, we popped in several times for drinks and food, dog friendly too. There is a lovely looking cafe down there too, but we didn't get a chance to try that. A wonderful house, in a spectacular location, even in wet and very windy December!

Generous welcome pack much appreciated. Clean spacious dog friendly modern house with enclosed garden well designed for holiday letting and a mile or so from the beach, a choice of countryside rights of way down, as well as the road, eateries in C/Haven all good and it is a friendly area. Napoleon Inn at Boscastle highly recommended, Bank Tapas at Bude probably not.

Ideal for meeting up with other family members. Excellent local pub for food abd drinks. Also the pub has view you will never tire off. Penhavan has all the comforts of home, plenty of room to spread out and is dog friendly. One week isn’t long enough.
