Location, location, location - how important is this and if its at the top of your list then Providence Cottage, which has views from all the windows, many out to sea and over the harbour, is the place for your stunning Cornish holiday. Sitting directly on the Cornwall Coastal Path and with a raised roof terrace to maximise the views and a quiet patio for al fresco meals, the cottage is perfectly positioned to enjoy Port Isaac, it even has private parking for two cars.
The village is famous for being the real life set in the Doc Martin TV series and also home to the renowned Fisherman’s Friends, an acclaimed folk group who often perform on the quay on a Friday evening. Port Isaac is located on the north coast of this dramatic county and does not disappoint as it still has a strong local vibe but embraces the tourism that is so popular here, it even has a Michelin starred restaurant for the foodies! But there are many excellent cafés, restaurants and great fish and chip shops to enjoy the local produce. The pubs, many of which hug the working harbour, are friendly, local and buzzing in the summer months and quiet and welcoming throughout the rest of the year.
This area of Cornwall, though perched on its north shore, is still a good base to explore the county and the historic towns such as Tintagel, Bodmin, Padstow and Wadebridge which are all easily reached. Bodmin and Wadebridge are joined by an off road cycle, walking and riding trail called the Camel Trail with bike hire readily available. In fact, you can hire bikes, horse ride, surf, wind surf, sail and kayak, all within 20 minutes of this stunning location.
For the culture hungry, there are many National Trust houses and gardens including the stunning Lanhydrock House and estate at Bodmin, along with Bodmin Gaol which is a great attraction, if not a little spooky. Bodmin is also home to its very own steam railway so if a trip in a steam train through the countryside is your thing, then what a day out this is. Truro, Newquay, Fowey and St Austell are all within reach for that different aspect of Cornwall making Port Isaac and Providence Cottage a top choice. Beach 300 yards. Shop 400 yards, pub 200 yards and restaurant 150 yards.

"Great views overlooking the port and out to sea"

"Spectacular location in this beautiful fishing village. Lovely sea views from every window. Great space, although a little tired and requires some updating but this is our second visit to Providence Cottage and it probably won’t be our last. The hosts are extremely helpful and welcoming and can’t do enough to help. Highly recommend, purely for location, views and fantastic roof terrace."
