About this property

St Columb Major 1 mile. A lovely cottage located close to the rural hamlet of St Columb Major on the north Cornish coast. This 300-year old former farm cottage has been luxuriously restored to an extremely high standard whilst retaining many original features. Drive down leafy lanes to the edge of Talskiddy you reach the cottage. The quietness surrounds you as you enter the cottage through the porch and then into the open plan living area, where a splendid mixture of modern living and original features blend perfectly including a cloam oven nestled in the granite fireplace. There is a well-equipped kitchen, with a breakfast bar, and comfortable sitting area with woodburner, which then leads out to the utility room and the garden. Head up the spiral staircase from the living room, to find two comfortable bedrooms, both adjacent to the bathroom. Outside the cottage is a beautiful enclosed garden with patio area where you can relax with a refreshing drink whilst enjoying the sounds of the countryside, or use the barbecue and dine alfresco. History suggests that Talskiddy has been a settlement for over 4000 years and has a traditional village green and a duck pond, known by the residents as 'the harbour'. The nearest town is St Columb Major, just over a mile away, where there are a range of shops, a supermarket, two traditional butchers, both well known for their pasties, take-aways and pubs. The beautiful west facing beach at Mawgan Porth, which is mid-way between Newquay and Padstow, is situated just four miles from the cottage and offers acres of golden sands, superb surfing and wonderful coastal walks to Watergate Bay and Padstow. With so much on offer close by, and easy access to Cornwall's major tourist attractions, there will always be plenty to do. This lovely cottage is a perfect holiday base at any time of year.

An old and picturesque market town nestled among lush green countryside, just five miles from the North Cornish Coast. The resort attractions of Newquay includes bars, clubs, a zoo, vibrant shops, the National Surfing Centre and fabulous beaches are all just 7 miles away, while 9 miles in the other direction is the sleepy fishing port of Padstow. In between lies a beautiful section of the South West Coast path, winding its way over the clifftops, down to tranquil coves and across some of the region's top beaches.

The cream tea on arrival was a lovely start to our holiday.

I only gave 9 rather than a 10 due to recommendation could only be made to those with good physical ability. The spiral staircase could be difficult to negotiate as it is narrow and limited headroom. But we loved it! Cottage is full of character and has everything you need and more! Log burner is a delight and made our nights in very cosy. Firelighters, sticks and some logs where available to start us off. Location is quiet with a long lane for walking our dog early morning and her evening relief lol. Lovely little enclosed court yard type garden, up some steps where we sat star gazing. Bed really comfy and whole cottage clean. Only negative comment would be the shower. Although it worked I would replace with a normal electric shower with 1 shower head and removing the rain rose as the pressure is quite low, but that is a minor criticism. I will certainly book here again!

The property was clean, location was good, but for us it was a little to small, nice place but unfortunately we wouldn't return
