Towan Valley is perfectly located for exploring Cornwall. Set between St Ives and Newquay, these two picturesque towns offer both sandy beaches and fantastic eateries. If you don’t feel like venturing further afield, Porthtowan Beach is just five minutes away and offers scenic walks and surfing opportunities.

We booked for a week at short notice. We needed a three bedroom property for ourselves and two children aged 17 and 12. We hadn't visited Porthtowan before although we've been to Cornwall many times.The location is off the beaten track somewhat but within easy travelling distance to Newquay, if you wants to experience a livelier place. Porthtowan is much, much less commercial and we really liked this aspect of it. Dressing up is certainly not required in places like the Blue Bar, The Unicorn and the Beach Cafe. The whole place is laid back and has something of a hippy feel to it. It's frequented by a number of touring VW vans and the like. Porthtowan valley was 5 minutes walk from the beach. The beach itself is clean and easy to get on. It is lifeguard attended although the body boarding section of the beach was congested at times. The accommodation was clean, spacious and had all mod cons, including good wifi, that kept the kids happy. We went at high season and the £1400 we paid for the week felt a little excessive for what we got, however we had a relaxing time and would probably go back again. We'd definitely go back is the pricing was more reasonable.
