About this property

Experience - The Area...

If a breath-taking location with stunning views is what you are after then Grade II listed Tortington House on Fowey's prestigious Esplanade is the perfect property for you. Set in an elevated position on the waterfront with far reaching views over the River Fowey towards the coastal village of Polruan, Tortington House offers a water view from virtually every room in the house! In addition, exceptionally spacious outside space in the form of a large terrace off the lower ground floor and balcony from the ground floor ensure that these rather special, ever changing views can be enjoyed whatever the weather.

Fowey itself is a popular visitor destination for those with a love of all things nautical. An abundance of charming shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants ensure you have little reason to leave. If you do fancy a change of scenery then a quick trip on the quaint passenger ferry across to Polruan will do just that. Further afield but all within a half hours drive are other popular Cornish villages and beaches worth visiting they include Charlestown, Duporth, Porthpean, Pentewan and Mevagissey. The antiques capital of Cornwall, Lostwithiel on the River Fowey is charming less than 8 miles away and worth a visit.

Stay - The Accommodation...

Entered at ground floor level, the front door opens into the entrance hallway with storage for boots, shoes, coats......and oh that view! To the left is the light and airy living room with two large comfy sofas, window seating, television and yes you've got it......the view. To the immediate right of the hallway is the well equipped kitchen where even the hatchway into the dining room takes in the view! The separate dining room with sociable circular table and rather lovely local artwork adorning the walls also boasts the most terrific views out across the water.

Just before you head down the carpeted stairs to the lower ground floor is a door that leads out onto a small balcony with table and chairs for two and a perfect place to enjoy a morning cuppa before the rest of the house wakes up!

The lower ground floor has direct access out onto the spacious terrace with furniture. Also to the lower ground floor is a media room with easy seating and a  55" Smart television with blu ray player and books and games just in case the Cornish weather decides to misbehave. A modern shower room with wash basin, heated towel rail and raised platform accommodating a decent size shower cubicle along with separate WC and utility room (perfect for Fido at night), completes the lower ground floor accommodation.

Back upstairs and on the first floor you will find the two carpeted double bedrooms. Both rooms are brightly decorated with the larger bedroom having dual aspect views out across the estuary to the rear and Esplanade to the front. The smaller double bedroom can still boast lovely water views and has a walk-in wardrobe too. In addition to the first floor is a good size shower room with large wash basin, heated towel rail and separate WC. Another twist and turn staircase leads up to the second floor where a cute, attic bedroom can be found with twin beds and of course, a view and a half!

Ample hanging and drawer/shelf space provided within the three bedrooms.

The property is efficently heated by individual, thermostatically controlled electric radiators.

There is a right of way (two properties either side - used very occasionally) across the rear terrace.

Don't forget...

This property welcomes two small or medium size dogs or one large dog.

"This is a beautiful, clean and well located house which has every single thing you could need for an adventure in Fowey. It is apposite a jewel of a Tapas bar, right by the Ferry stop and 2 mins from a lovely secluded beach. The views from every room are breathtaking in any weather, we simply cannot speak highly enough of this property and everything that went with it. The two terraces are a perfect way to have breakfast and relax in the evenings, literally being part of that wonderful scenery. We have already reserved for next year. "

A fabulous property in a fabulous location. Views are outstanding and easy to walk into town, get to beach at Readymoney Cove and hop onto the ferries to Polruan and Mevagissey. Everything has been thought of to make ones stay perfect. Would love to return and would definitely recommend.
