About this property

Porth 0.5 miles. Spindrift is the perfect, year-round bolt hole for those seeking a romantic weekend away, or a traditional family beach holiday close to the waters and boasting an amazing sea view. This contemporary, ground-floor apartment is set between Watergate Bay and Newquay, a very short stroll from the child-friendly, award-winning Porth Beach, which unusually for this part of Cornwall has flat access from the beach’s car park. Upon entering this well-furnished holiday home, your eyes are immediately drawn to the large windows in the sitting area, which provide spectacular, uninterrupted far-reaching views across the Porth Island beauty spot, over the sea and along the coast to Newquay Harbour. The spacious open-plan living area consists of a well-equipped kitchen, leading to a separate dining area and then onto the sitting area with two large sofas, perfect for relaxing and simply gazing out across the rolling waves. A patio door opens to a grassed area where you can sit and enjoy the views. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and luxury en-suite, as well as boasting a sea view; ideal for breakfast in bed while watching the ocean. The second bedroom is a twin, which can be set up as a king-size double bed on request. Outside, a small private enclosed courtyard patio, complete with furniture, offers a peaceful suntrap where you can relax together late into summer evenings. Beach and surf buffs will find this location absolutely ideal, and be spoilt for choice by the selection of sandy bays nearby. Walk across the road, turn left and within a short stroll you are on Porth Beach, after first passing Whipsiderry Beach, adored by surfers who flock here throughout the season. Set opposite the South West Coastal Path, the cottage is perfectly placed for hiking by yourselves or with your dog; as dogs are welcome at this apartment. Just under two miles away by road, or a steady walk along the beach and coast path, you can discover the many delights that the lively seaside resort of Newquay offers. Follow the coastal path east towards Watergate Bay which is celebrated for the plentiful watersports on offer. By car, virtually all of Cornwall's tourist attractions are within easy reach, or you can take advantage of the regular coastal bus service to Padstow or Newquay, making this fine holiday home the perfect location whatever the time of year. If you are arriving by plane, the airport is just a short drive away.

Porth is a small seaside village on the outskirts of Newquay. The village offers a sandy beach, shops and cafés, plus nearby is the SW Coast Path, which boasts spectacular scenery. Watergate Bay with its rolling waves, surf schools and restaurant is a short walk away, and the popular resort of Newquay with its beaches, watersports, pubs, restaurants, zoo and aquarium is well worth a visit. Porth is an ideal base for a Cornish getaway.

From the second you open the door it is so fresh, light and spotlessly clean. This was our second stay at 2 Spindrift. I like to have a week in Cornwall with all the family then a week to relax. Rolling up the blind in the mornings to the crashing waves is magnificent, as is watching the breathtaking sunsets. Just a hop across the road and down the steps to Whipsiderry, great beach for surfing or body boarding, or a short walk down the hill to Porth. We were lucky enough to see two large starfish in shallow rock pools at Whipsiderry this year. When the tide is out you can walk all the way to Watergate Bay. If holidaying without a car or just wanting a rest from driving, the 56 Newquay to Padstow bus stops just outside the door. Newquay is also within reasonable walking distance for the fit. The apartment itself is so well equipped that it has everything you could possibly think of and more. The decor, in keeping with the period of the building is a nice touch. It is so obviously cared about as are the people who stay there. Very comfortable beds and crisp, white linen. I always feel very indulgent with my own en-suite bathroom. Lashings of hot water. There is also a tap outside to rinse off sand and wetsuits. Hose attachment in cupboard. We love the walled garden which is a great little suntrap. I don't know who this terrible neighbour is as mentioned in previous review but the lady above was very nice and friendly on the rare occasion we crossed paths. We didn't see anyone else. It was very peaceful. To sum up, whether it's country walks (huge pine cones up the lane), walking the coast path, bat watching, braving the surf or snapping the action from the safety of the cliff.....or not so safe feeling from the bridge when the sea is rough, more exhilaratingly scary : D... or just watching the ever changing sea and sky from the comfort of this wonderful apartment, I don't think you could ask for more.

Mould on brown blind in main bedroom and around window. General facilities excellent, views over sea wonderful. Can do nothing about noisy road.Neighbour above at No 4 unpleasant, even her neighbours confirmed that with us so it not just us. Loved the appartment generally so can understand repeat bookings . Maybe a "small welcome pack" might be a nice touch?

Lovely apartment in superb location. 100% dog friendly. The owner was very helpful in texting us with details in advance and then on arrival to check that all was well. Would love to come again
