About this property

A stunning studio apartment close to Plymouth HoeA stunning studio apartment close to Plymouth Hoe

A stunning studio apartment that has been sensitively re-developed within Plymouth's Royal William Yard, to provide a fresh yet historic living space. The development is situated on the waters edge allowing you easy access to the breathtaking views up the River Tamar and across to Mount Edgcumbe, Plymouth Naval base and Devonport.

Bosuns Locker, The Brewhouse, benefits from 10ft windows that open out to a Juliet balcony and retains spectacular features, such as limestone and granite walls and exposed timber roof beams that sympathetically contrast with the ultra modern materials to accentuate the property and its heritage.

Within the development there is a cafe wine bar, art gallery and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Deli and Canteen is now open providing delicious food made from local products. Regular passenger ferries run to the Barbican and if you have your own boat, there is space to moor it! A short walk away, there is also the Cremyl ferry that will take you to Mount Edgcumbe. The Hoe is an historic scenic viewpoint where you can enjoy the amazing views across the bay or visit Smeaton's Tower with many interesting activities.

There is a water taxi linking the Royal William Yard with the historic Barbican. This 12 seater service operates daily from 10am to 6pm, 1st May until 30th September, and offers passengers a unique water perspective of Plymouth. Departure times are hourly (on the half hour from the Barbican and full hour from Royal William Yard) with a cost of £2.50 for adults and £1.50 per child.

The Barbican is close by where you can meander the cobbled streets with individual specialty shops, craft work shops and art galleries. Many local artists have won global reputations, including Beryl Cook, Lee Woods, Brian Pollard and the late Robert Lenkiewicz. There are also many interesting old pubs and cafes to visit.

If you fancy a dip then the art deco Tinside Lido is close by, and the beaches of Bigbury and Whitsand Bay are just a short drive away. Why not catch the Cremyl ferry across to Mount Edgcumbe Park and discover the hidden Cornish villages of Cawsand and Kingsand with their quaint old streets and family beaches.

Plymouth is a vibrant waterside city, benefiting from major investment with plenty to entertain everyone from arts and crafts, to stylish cafes, bars and restaurants, quaint tea rooms and traditional fish and chips. High end shops and unique boutiques are found within both the main city shopping area and the recently completed Drake Circus shopping mall.

Plymouth Pavilions is the South West’s largest entertainment, concert and leisure venue and holds many events throughout the year including comedians, orchestras, rock and pop groups and sporting events to name a few, there is also an ice rink and swimming pool with wave machine, Jacuzzi and flumes.

There is also a wealth of heritage and history to explore - stand where Sir Francis Drake played bowls as the Spanish Armada approached, enjoy a tour at the historic Plymouth Gin distillery, or maybe visit the National Marine Aquarium - now the largest aquarium in Great Britain with the deepest tank in Europe.

Travel links from Plymouth are excellent with a high speed travel link to London, Paddington and an excellent road system via the Devon Expressway linking directly into the M5.

The property is on the first floor with access to a lift.

...locality, history, ambiance and restaurants that makes for a complete experience. The fact that we could take our dog on holiday was fabulous and we appreciated the number of eateries that welcomed her in to share in a social occasion. Submitted by Peter on 20/11/2015

...apartment was very good and had everything we needed, ideally suited for two. Despite some reservations after booking about the sofa bed it proved very comfortable. The apartment was perfectly situated everything was close to hand so the car was unused throughout our stay. There is so much to do and see in Plymouth we need to visit again.
