About this property

Fantastic five star well-appointed cottage with excellent features which is wonderfully situated overlooking the river of historic Boscastle harbour.

Olde Carpenters Cottage sits in an unrivalled location, just steps from where the Rivers Valency and Jordan flow into the historic Boscastle harbour, with views across the river to the headland opposite. This quaint single storey cottage has been lovingly renovated and prepared for guests by the owner who has a farm nearby, where the sister property, Home Farm Cottage is located. A small patio area at the front of the cottage and adjacent to the parking area, offers the chance to dine alfresco and watch the riverside happenings. Located in the oldest and most historic part of Boscastle, a short stroll will lead to the harbour where small fishing boats land their daily catch. There are some lovely cafes and interesting shops either side of the river, with even more options available further along in the main village.

The entrance to this attractive stone-work cottage opens into a small inner porch, ideal for storing coats and footwear etc. A sliding door leads into the large sunny living room where the comfortable leather sofas invite you to sit back and relax. There are many interesting pieces of art to enjoy in this room and throughout the whole cottage. The kitchen/dining room is spacious and very well equipped, you may struggle to actually fill the free standing American larder fridge/freezer, which can play host to all the lovely locally sourced provisions, you will be tempted with. The family bathroom is attractive in muted heritage colours, has a slate floor and is very well presented with handmade Cornish toiletries generously provided by the owner. There is also a very useful housemaids drying rack suspended from the ceiling. The twin bedroom has cream painted antique style beds with co-ordinating pretty linens and views to the river. The master bedroom is beautifully presented with an antique style King brass bed, antique pine furniture and luxurious linen and fabrics. The newly re-furbished en-suite shower room with mosaic tiles has an electric shower, WC and basin, as well as having ample, well-lit storage space. The use of quality fabrics, furnishings and character items such as wooden doors with latches, means Olde Carpenters Cottage is a delight to stay in and merits its Visit England 5 Star rating.

The South West Coastal path meanders through Boscastle for the more energetic to explore. There are other great harbours and villages close by to visit by car, such as Port Isaac, Tintagel, Padstow or Bude. Great surfing can be had at Polzeath or Crackington Haven and the stunning Trebarwith Strand, is a mere 5 miles away. For the more adventurous then secret Bossiney Haven, can only be accessed across farmland, and down steep steps to the mostly sandy beach.
