About this property

This spacious apartment is situated overlooking the Falmouth Estuary, just a short walk from Falmouth town centre. The Lookout is part of the prestigious Packet Quays development and standing at the bank of windows in the vast sitting room overlooking the water gives the distinct feeling of being at the bridge of a ship. A vaulted ceiling adds to the tremendous feeling of space in this room which forms the heart of the apartment. Accommodation is up a flight of stairs and then on one level with a well equipped kitchen and open plan living area with stunning views and window seats to enjoy them. There is a double bedroom and a twin with a family bathroom. Outside there is a balcony and patio area with furniture for alfresco breakfasts. The magnificent harbour below is filled with crafts from dinghies to super yachts and even the odd cruise liner or battle ship. Just moments from the centre of bustling Falmouth, an easy stroll will bring you to boutiques, antique and curio shops and artisan delicatessens. Bar and café culture is very much alive in the town with a dazzling array of options from cappuccinos and cream teas to cocktails and canapés. Falmouth is a fantastic destination for families with activities for all weathers; relax on one of the three sandy beaches at Swanpool, Gyllyngvase and Maenporth or try your hand at kayaking, sailing or diving at one of the water sport centres in the town. The Medieval Pendennis Castle, The National Maritime Museum and Ships and Castles Leisure Centre are also great options for fun on those rainy days. A boat trip is a must when in Falmouth; departing regularly from the town quay, there are plenty of options for exploring the beautiful hidden creeks of the Carrick Roads or Helford River with stops at pretty riverside inns along the way. Perfectly located to enjoy Falmouth and the surrounding area of Cornwall, The Lookout is ideal for families and friends who want to watch and also explore the great outdoors.

Falmouth, with its magnificent natural harbour (the third largest in the world), winding streets and beaches, will keep you occupied for hours. The town's old harbourside pubs, excellent shopping, art gallery and stunning National Maritime Museum simply complete the picture. Pendennis Castle, built by Henry viii, is Falmouth's most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by the rocky coves, sandy beaches and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. Go there by car (15 miles) or take the passenger ferry from Falmouth (15 minutes).

This is very convenient for shopping and access to bars and restaurants. However, it can be quite noisy. The double glazing in the property doesn't work that well. The parking is adequate and guests must be aware that there is quite a climb from street level to the Lookout. My only moan about the stay is the 9 o'clock deadline to vacate the property. Guests should also be aware that the Cornish season starts in April. Many of the boat trips do not run in March.
