About this property

Nestled peacefully in the small hamlet of Millpool near Blisland. Set over one level, this lovely cottage has access up a few steps at the front and patio doors to the rear. Inside is a classic cottage theme within the open-plan living room, tied together with pretty, floral curtains and cushions. The vaulted, beamed ceiling elevates the space beautifully, with large patio doors allows in the natural light to stream through. Cook up a romantic meal in the kitchen, which is a contemporary shade of cream and occupies a modern suite. The large double bedroom boasts a beautiful bedspread and has views out over the countryside. Adjoining this room is the spacious en-suite shower room, completing the cosy setup in a stylish manner. To the outside, the patio offers an ideal spot for taking in the wonderful scenery and peaceful surroundings, with horses grazing in the field opposite. The village of Millpool is just off the A30 and makes this property ideal for touring Cornwall, with easy access to the South and North Coast. Padstow and the Eden Project are within easy reach, as is Bodmin Moor and the Camel Trail, for those looking for a walking or cycling break. If you are feeling more adventurous, there are flying lessons at Bodmin Airfield, with a safe, friendly and stimulating environment for members and visitors alike. There are several local pubs and eating places within a 6-mile radius, not forgetting the Blisland Inn, famous for its real ales. There is so much to see and do in the area, yet you can return to the tranquillity of this Cornish getaway.

The village of Blisland retains its age old character and is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline.

Pat and Colin the owners, made us very welcome on our arrival with scones, jam and cream to scoff after a long journey. Lovely quite spot on the edge on Bodmin Moor, the cottage has a small patio with seating which overlooks a field and a paddock at the rear where two shetlands and a horse spend most of their time. The cottage was immaculately clean, with a very comfortable bed. The location is a short distance off the A30 which makes it ideal for for exploring the local country side and coastal areas. WiFi could be a little haphazard at times because of the location, but was not a major problem, for us anyway. Overall we would highly recommend Mayberry Cottage for a very pleasant break.

Although adequate, the facilities and equipment were basic and compared with the 2-bed cottage we'd stayed at the previous week in Devon, we felt that it was over-priced.

The nearest pub/supper was a little far and on our first evening visit we realised that we would be wise to book a table in future. The cream teas and little extras that awaited our arrival were most welcome after our long journey. We will certainly keep Mayberry Cottage in mind for future visits to Cornwall.
