About this property

Superbly located for touring all of Cornwall, this delightful, semi-detached country side farm cottage near the hamlet of Bolventor is surrounded by far-reaching moorland and countryside. Approached along a private lane just off the A30, as you drive towards the cottage leaving the main road behind you, all you will see for miles are the surrounding fields and moors, rolling off towards the horizon. Entering the cottage, you'll immediately sense the charm and character that exudes throughout. Head through to the well-equipped kitchen with dining area, onto the spacious sitting room with a cosy woodburner set in its massive stone fireplace, the perfect place to curl up in front of after a long day walking the moors. There are three bedrooms to choose from, with two on the first floor and one on the ground floor. Walkers will delight at the many magnificent footpaths which trail practically past the doorstep, with the two highest points in Cornwall both close by. Enjoy the challenging hike, where on a clear day you’ll be rewarded by magnificent views stretching from the north coast at mystical Tintagel, to the south coast at pretty Fowey. Set close to the A30, which runs the length of the county, a day trip to discover many of Cornwall’s delights is at your fingertips. The nearby Bodmin Moor, which has recently been given dark sky status makes for a wonderful evening. The world-famous Jamaica Inn is just two miles away; immortalised by Daphne Du Maurier’s bestseller, and being the nearest pub to your cottage, it’s definitely worthy of a visit. With its stunning, wild and windswept location offering the feeling of remoteness, and yet with easy access to all of Cornwall, Blackadon Farm Cottage is ideal for your next Cornish getaway.

The vast and rugged Bodmin Moor, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, forms over 150 square miles of striking, rocky landscape, which much of It declared a Site of Specific Scientific Importance. This ancient location is home to mystical standing stones, old buildings dating from medieval times and thousands of years’ worth of tin mining heritage.

We all slept like logs. The views from the living room were a joy. The sounds of the sheep and an owl, seeing a fox and a kestrel. Following the sheep all the way up the little road to the cottage was very amusing. We felt very safe during storm Betty. A fantastic central location to explore Cornwall. I’m sure I read in the listing the bathroom was on the first floor. Not a biggie for us at all but maybe for other guests? Thank you Clare and David for letting us stay at your cottage.

The setting was beautiful and so peaceful, yet access was easy for getting out and about. The cottage was spacious, but homely and had everything you could possibly require to make your stay perfect! With two dogs, the large garden was extremely well received, and they were sad to leave. Lastly, the holiday was that 'extra bit' special, because of the hosts, Clare and David. They were so nice, and always gave us informative advice and guidance. Thank you.

These are a few of our thoughts. A second toilet would greatly enhance the facilities especially if the full capacity of 6 are staying. An extra double plug point to the right of the cooker hood would make using the cooker hood/toaster/microwave possible at the same time without toasting the cables that had to be swapped in and out. We appreciate that many people might not wish to cook on holiday but for those who do it would make a difference. Would there be any possibility of putting a towel rail in or near the bathroom to air and dry the bath sheets? We put the airier up in the hallway outside the bathroom. Thoroughly enjoyed lighting the log burner on the last evening.
