Taking its name from the common land upon which it was built in the 18th century, this superb detached farmhouse offers beautifully presented and comfortable accommodation on the border between England and Wales. Nestled within 18 acres of land, Common Farm Cottages have their own equestrian facilities with an olympic-sized dressage arena, and horse riding lessons can be booked directly with the owner (at cost), dependant on availability. Traditionally constructed with thick walls, the property has been significantly extended over the last hundred years, resulting in a spacious home, which has 5 bedrooms, 3 digital bathrooms, large and well-equipped dining kitchen and 3 reception areas, making it ideal for larger families and groups who want to spend time together. The bathrooms have digital temperature control and remote control. Common Farm boasts a mixture of traditional and boutique styles and combines all the character and charm of a period property with all the comforts required from a holiday home. There is a traditional woodburner which dates back to the early 20th-century, and an open fire to be found in the entertaining rooms. The property has Wi-Fi as well as Satellite TV with sport and movie package, multiple blu ray players and games consoles to keep the children entertained. There is also an external games room with a HD cinema (seats 2) and a small pool table. Should relaxation be more your style, then why not relax in the Jacuzzi bath which has a holistic lighting system, as well as a TV. Common Farm will comfortably accommodate 9 people, however, larger parties may choose to book the additional detached lodge (ref W44150) which will accommodate a further 4 guests (2 adults and 2 children) in studio style accommodation. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

"Party of 9 unable to use either bath (leaking through to kitchen)2 showers cold so 1 shower in main bathroom for 9 people disappointing.Could have been lovely but plumbing and lack of cleanliness in kitchen disappointing.Sweet wrappers and coins in bedside table drawers on arrival also gave concern for cleaning standards.Shame."

"Lane to the house is pretty bad with pot holes, we were warned but its abit too late once its booked and paid for. Not bad in location to the city centre but we did struggle to get a taxi to pick us up due to the lane.House overall is nice but it was very cold when we got there, stayed in november so heating should have been on constant. Couldnt get any of the tvs downstairs to work, couldnt get that sorted until 2nd day, batteries missing from remotes. Showers were not very good if two people using both bathrooms at the same time, and not powerful at all. Decor is nice in the bedrooms, didnt use the downstairs bedroom.Tried to light the fire but chimney must have been blocked as smoke was filling the room so couldnt have that lit. Overall nice but could be loads better if everything is checked as working after each check out and alittle more TLC put into the house."

"Common Farm was great for both young kids and dogs and the hosts were friendly and met us at the house to welcome us on the first night. The only challenge was the lead up to the house due to number of pot holes and heavy rain filling them.Would recommend the stay to others and would look to stay again next year"

"Second visit to this cottage as it accommodates large families and accepts dogs. Ideal location to go into Chester town. Would be better if a WiFi connection was inputted in the games room as there is a large screen that could be used for a film night but would also need extra seating. Maybe also invest in a better pool table for kids/adults. Overall a fantastic cottage and will definitely be returning 👍😁"

"Lovely place but it does need a few things done to make it perfect Shower downstairs no hot water. Tap loose on sink in downstairs shower room The lane to access the house is awful full of pot holes"

"Had the most wonderful couple of days for my daughters hen weekend. It is fully equipped, plenty of space,"
    Debbie ‐ 17 Jul 2019
"Really beautiful being out in the sticks, plenty of space for 9 adults, enclosed garden the dog loved it, horses in fields. The lane leading up to the cottage very bumpy but that's why cars have suspension. Plenty of locations to visit, things to do. 4 days 3 nights wasn't enough. Games room well equipped, different rooms for different entertainment."

"Overall a good property, the rooms were all clean and well kept with a nice balance between modern and farmhouse living. The only small issues i found were that the kitchen could have been slightly better equipped as when had 8 adults all eating and cooking the kitchen and dining were of the correct size but there needed to be more crockery and cooking utensils and such. The road to it is also a farm track with potholes, most cars can deal with this if go slowly so not too much of an issue.I would still say this is a great property with good local amenities and a great base to work fromWould definitely recommend"

"a lovely farmhouse for a family get together.quite far away from local shops with small children but lovely for a couple of days"
    Valerie ‐ 11 Mar 2019
"The long lane to the house was a bit daunting but it was worth it. Very comfortable and spacious, idea for my birthday get together."
    Amanda ‐ 21 Feb 2019
"We all had a lovely weekend at Common Farm , Andrea was very accommodating and was there to meet us and show us round. We left a bag of bits at the house which were kindly posted back to us free of charge 1st Class ."
    Andy ‐ 6 Jan 2019
"We really enjoyed our weekend at this cottage. The cottage was clean and tidy and met all our expectations. The owners went beyond their duty to help us and welcome us. Would recommend this cottage and we hope to return soon."
    Linda ‐ 5 Jan 2019
"Superb property for a large family celebratory get together. Plenty of rooms to enjoy & able to spread out! Fabulous well equipped kitchen. No need to go out, but close enough to amenities. We had grocery delivery for Christmas dinner etc. As with other reviews, warnings of large potholes on lane need to be heeded! Also if you would like music other than channels on TV, advised to take your own Bluetooth speaker! No CD player."
    Roger ‐ 13 Dec 2018
"We rented Common Farm for a long weekend to visit the Chester Xmas market. The Park and ride is only 6 away minutes and it would be a great place to explore the area. The house was nice and warm and we made use of the log fire. Our main criticism is the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and we were unable to use the ensuite shower because a crack had appeared in the tiles.Quite understand these things happen but when there are nine adults trying to have a shower it becomes a nuisance. All these things are totally fixable. It was a very wet weekend and the long drive up the lane full of potholes was difficult"

"brilliantly equipped cottage - it had everything we needed. The cinema room was a bonus!"
