About this property

Jack’s Cottage is a gorgeous three-bedroomed former Head Gardener’s cottage, standing in the private parklands of Marbury Hall on the Cheshire/Shropshire border. The Marbury Hall estate is a short distance from the picturesque village of Marbury, with its pretty Black and White cottages and 15th century church. Beautifully and thoughtfully renovated throughout, the cottage provides a peaceful retreat for anyone wanting to get away from it all for a relaxing holiday in the lovely surrounding countryside. The cottage is light and airy and is all on one level, with views over open farmland from the sitting room. The well-equipped kitchen leads to the sitting room, which has been stylishly furnished and decorated with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a dining table and chairs, and French doors leading out to the garden. The three bedrooms have sumptuous bed linen and bathrobes are provided. There are two bathrooms, both of which are very luxurious. The cottage has a lawned area of garden on both sides, with fruit trees, flower borders, a herb garden and table and chairs for outdoor eating and relaxing. There is a useful boot room, and secure bike storage plus plenty of parking for everyone. The lovely picturesque village of Marbury is within walking distance and a village green and walks around the meres. Marbury is on the Cheshire/Shropshire border and gives easy access to a diverse range of activities, including walking, cycling, shopping, historic sites, the Llangollen canal, award-winning and newly refurbished pub and restaurants and the many renowned Cheshire gardens. Nearby Whitchurch is one of the oldest towns in Shropshire, offering a variety of traditional and specialist shops as well as larger stores. Throughout the year Cheshire and Shropshire host several excellent events and festivals including the International Cheese Show at Nantwich. For those wishing to travel further afield there are excellent road and rail links to Liverpool and Manchester. Set in the grounds of a peaceful private country estate, Jack’s Cottage is the perfect place to relax with friends and family.

The wonderful market town of Whitchurch has a great deal of ancient history. Recorded as a settlement called Mediolanum as early as Roman times, buildings within the town include examples of Medieval, Tudor and Georgian architecture, all in the shadow of the beautiful St. Alkmund's Church.
