The town of Nantwich is 5 miles to the south east of Crewe and stands on the banks of the River Weaver and the Shropshire Union Canal. It is famous for its outdoor Brine Pool which is one of the few remaining in the UK. There is markets throughout the week and a monthly farmers' market. Nantwich town centre is pedestrianised and has examples of historic buildings, well worth visiting in spring and summer with floral displays throughout the streets. Nantwich plays host to events throughout the year, including The Battle of Nantwich in January, the Jazz, Blues and Music Festival at Easter and the International Cheese Awards in July. Market Drayton and Whitchurch are within 12 miles and worth a day trip to enjoy their history and architecture.
