About this property

A real gem, this charming, 17th-century, semi-detached, character holiday cottage, with a pretty garden and private hot tub, sits down a quiet lane in the Cambridgeshire village of Burwell. The cottage backs onto a 15th-century church, which is famous for its tower, and a natural spring runs through the garden and separates it from the site of ancient Burwell Castle. Some of the original stones from the castle are in the property’s inglenook fireplace. Ideally located to visit the many attractions in the area, walkers and cyclists will love the route to Wicken Fen and Reach. A short drive takes you to Anglesey Abbey (NT), or take a trip to Cambridge with its famous universities. Other places to visit include Bury St Edmunds, with its abbey gardens, the town of Ely and its cathedral, or take a trip to the races at Newmarket, which also hosts popular music nights. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Michael
"We had a great break, the only problem was the heating failed which could not have been predicted. A lovely cottage and marvellous setting."
Caroline
"A beautiful property, well kept and very clean, a pleasure to holiday in such a home. Fantastic location and can't wait to book again!"
Deirdre
"lovely cottage with every bit of equipment we could need - except the hot tub! Phoned the owner who said it had just been broken by the previous tenants - but looking at the comments book at the cottage there was a comment about it not working back in August. We were most disappointed about this - we had been looking at the internet for sometime specifically for a cottage with a hot tub."
Lynn
"A delightful cottage in an excellent location. The village is well served and there is lots to do locally. When we arrived it was a little light on cleaning, so we had a bit to do, but overall we had a very enjoyable stay and will be hoping to book again on our next trip."
Nathan
"Excellent property in a nice rural location. Ideal for visiting Cambridge, Ely, Thetford Forest and Bury St Edmonds. Local village has pubs, playground, chipshop, co-op. Cottage has a lovely homely feeling and if the weather is kind has a beautiful and large garden."
