… only 4 miles from the centre of Bath, in  beautiful countryside on the edge of the pretty village of Combe Hay (good food pub) and within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Beauty, is Week Farm, an elegant Georgian manor house within its own 98 acres of grounds and gardens.

From the lane, a private tree-lined gravel drive with views over the meadow valley to hills and woodland sweeps round the house. At the front are formal gardens with box hedging and lawns and, to the side, lavender spills over sweeping paved terraces (tables/chairs) with a hot tub for 12 set on a raised platform with views across Combe Hay valley. 

Inside, the house has been renovated with great attention to detail, combining original flagstone floors, huge sash windows and oak beams and floors, with luxurious, contemporary furnishings in linen, sea grass and soft blues. 

From the entrance lobby, picture-lined walls lead to…

 

… the formal Living Room with stone fireplace (open fire), comfortable and handsome furniture and a door to the terrace.

 

Next door is the Library (books and DVDs available) with an open fire and TV and DVD player. 

 

The Morning Room is along the hall and down 4 steps. It’s large and bright with comfy seating, an open fire, TV/ DVDand Sonos. Two pairs of French windows open on to the terrace, and double folding doors open to the kitchen.

 

The great big Kitchen is the heart of the house. It has a dining table seating 16, handmade hardwood units, granite tops and four-door Aga plus electric cooker/hob. There’s also a dishwasher, freezer and American-style fridge. French windows open from the Kitchen to the terrace. 

 

Off the kitchen is a large utility room (with washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, wine cooler), boot room and downstairs loo. 

 

A downstairs double bedroom is off the kitchen and has a 5’ bed. The nearest loo is up 4 steps and there is no shower or bath on this floor so it’s not suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Elegant stone stairs ascend from the lobby up to the first floor and two bedrooms:

 

The expansive master double suite has a 6’ zip-linked double bed (or twin) and lovely views down the valley. Five steps lead down through a stone arch to a lavish dressing room and, beyond that, an en suite bathroom (suite with separate shower),

 

On the same floor of this wing is another double bedroom with 5’ bed and window seat overlooking the garden and the same lovely views. Next door is a bathroom (suite) under the eaves for this double.

 

The elegant staircase continues to twist up to the top floor and a huge family suite with exposed oak beams. It’s divided into two bedroom areas and a dressing room. There’s a zip-linked 6’ double bed (or twin) with TV and DVD player and, behind a room-divide, is a single bed plus a small sofa bed. These two rooms share a large bathroom (suite with free-standing bath plus hand-shower and double washbasins). There’s no door on the bathroom so you’ll need to be comfortable with your fellow sleepers!

A second staircase leads upstairs from the kitchen to a long corridor off which are three more bedrooms:

There are two bathrooms (both suites) along the long corridor, shared between the three bedrooms. 

Detached from the house, 20 yards away, is the games room with a large TV and DVD player and table football. It has a good quality double sofa bed, kitchenette (small fridge) and large shower-room (wet-room suite) so it can double as accommodation as required.

 

Concierge, maid service and catering are all available by arrangement at extra cost. 

 

Damages Deposit is £500. Arrival is after 4pm. 

 

This is an extraordinary manor house and country estate. It makes a very special setting for significant anniversaries, celebrations or memorable family gatherings all year round.
