Stable Cottage has the fortune of being situated in one of the most unique, picturesque and pretty villages in the Cotswolds - Castle Combe. They really don't come much better than this - even in the pouring rain! Tucked down a very quiet lane that is just off the village 'centre' and less than 1 minute from two country pubs, this little beauty is gem of a holiday retreat. Inside the cottage is open plan and furnished in a simple attractive style the kitchen is well equipped and modern, the living area very comfortable and warm and bedroom has large comfortable bed. It may be simple but it is lovely and very charming. Formerly a 17th Century stable, this barn has been carefully converted and yet retains all the character and feel of the original building, including a massive oak beam between the lounge and bedroom, the vaulted ceiling and thick stone walls.As you would expect in a village as beautiful as this, there are endless walks in all directions, and as well as the pubs there is also a tried and tested tea room which serves a classic afternoon tea! Without doubt a classic country cottage, at an attractive price, but in the finest village in the area. This is a must see village!

No matter the time of year you visit, you are likely to find events catering for all tastes, from the famous Christmas market to music, food and cultural festivals and world-class theatre productions on offer at the Theatre Royal. The streets are lined with every kind of restaurant and the wide range of quality bars and shops are sure to tempt. The stunning architecture of Georgian terraces are famous and a joy to behold, whilst a visit to the celebrated Roman Baths and wonderful abbey are a must whilst staying in this beautiful city.

There is no privacy, as there are no net curtains or front garden, people can, and do, peer right into the cottage. We even had someone taking a selfie against the living room window as we ate Xmas dinner. You canât go for an afternoon nap without closing all the heavy curtains. It did feel like we were on show, and although this isnât a fault of the cottage persay, it is a feature of the village, which there is no escaping from. We stayed during Xmas week, I can only imagine what it is like midsummer, the entitlement of ( foreign) tourists to grab their photos did spoil our stay, it this doesnât bother you then I would definitely recommend as it is lovely, and locals from the village are a friendly bunch, but reluctantly we generally wouldnât recommend.

Cottage is the row behind the centre which is perfect. Cottage was lovely and cosy, very small garden to front of property but write up makes you aware of that, bonus of parking space in such a perfect location. If I had to nit pic, it would help if there was a paring knife otherwise just perfect

Fridge freezes things on bottom shelf. No list of what supposed to be in cupboards and drawers. Net curtains should be put up to give you more privacy as you have people coming up looking into property and one opened the door while we were in to see inside. Even though there is a sign at bottom by arch saying private. Everyone should get together and put gates or a barrier there. For a property that supposedly sleeps 2 it had too much furniture. The bedroom should have been partitioned somehow from the living room and kitchen (maybe a curtain or folding door) We arrived to a lovely stables with wood lice which we were having to remove from the carpet in the bedroom and living room and bathroom each evening aprrox 20 on first night which we narrowed down to 4 by the end of holiday. The village is beautiful if only some of the visitors could treat it better and let the locals that are still there(of which there isnât many) a bit more privacy and not peer through their windows all day long , itâs a shame. After all the people lived there long before the tourist came, quite happy and content.
