Perfectly situated to explore Maspalomas and Meloneras, Villa de Leon is an intimate holiday home for up to four guests. Ideal for a couple or small family, the house is located on the Salobre Golf Resort, and offers peace and quiet, great views and an inviting pool and terrace.

This villa features contemporary décor and furnishings, and offers a seamless transition from inside to out. The terrace features a dining area, barbecue and seating, and the 8m x 4m heated swimming pool is available to use all year round. There are impressive views of the region’s mountains to appreciate as you enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.

Inside, the living room has a comfortable seating area with satellite TV, DVD player and music system. This room flows through to the kitchen, where you have an oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, and an indoor dining area for four.

A double and twin bedroom can be found on the same level, both with direct access to the pool and terrace. There is also a well-appointed shower room.

Villa de Leon is just 3km from the golden sands of the beaches in Maspalomas. This resort has lots more besides beach life, with all kinds of restaurants, bars and visitor-friendly attractions in the area. If you would rather get a round of golf in, you could hardly be closer to the course, but even if you don’t play, the Salobre resort is still a very pleasant place to spend some time – and there’s a place to eat just a short walk from the villa.

Don’t forget to check out the glamorous goings on in Meloneras, the area’s most upscale resort. Take a walk along the promenade and stop in a bar to get a feel for the vibe, then get the full experience with a night out.

All this is easy to reach from the island’s airport, which is only 20 minutes’ drive from Maspalomas.

The capital, Las Palmas, sits in the far north-eastern corner of the island. Among its highlights are the huge marina, Muelle Deportivo, and the beautifully designed park, Parque Doramas. There is lots more of architectural interest in the town. Many of the most interesting buildings are found in the Vegueta area, including Santa Ana Cathedral. You will also find a Christopher Columbus museum and a modern art gallery in this district.

Away from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria has many more highlights. The Cueva Pintada archaeological site is a must for history lovers, while the cloud-filled views at the island’s peak near the town of Tejada are definitely worth the journey. On the southern coast, you have the sand dunes of the extensive beaches at Maspalomas, while charming spots like Puerto de las Nieves and Agaete in the north west, will simply make you feel good with their unspoilt natural beauty.

As one of Europe’s most gay-friendly destinations, Gran Canaria has no shortage of welcoming bars and clubs, while the regular carnivals and fiestas provide good fun for all. Whatever you plan on doing, you can be sure Gran Canaria has the weather for it, with the sun shining pretty much continuously all year round.
